there is a reason why till now Johor is still buying water from Singapore. in current situation, they do nothing buy back at 50 cent, and sell to its citizen at RM3.50.

why would they want to invest in a multimillion dollar infrastructure which cost millions to maintain yearly?

Sell clean water to us and price it at $1.30 per m3?the economics are the same.....if it only cost 2.40 rm to treat the water,they can continue providing their citizens with water at 0.80rm per m3......and they can sell the excess to Singapore at $1.30 per m3 and make 12.60 rm profit per thousand gallon!!!!it's like how PAP squeeze our balls!!!

Not only that having water treatment plant means now the balance of power is in their court.

The grouse by the old fox, is not only that 3sen per thousand GALLONS ( are we still using Imperial Measurement?), or the treated water we sell cheap back to Johor. He is upset by the huge amount of indirect taxation the PAP Government earn from selling the water in Singapore. He wants a share of that profit, by raising the price of water, so that, the Malaysian Government have the share of that pie.

3 sen per thousand GALLONS is a negligible amount even when you add in development, processing, transportation & other costs into the resale of that water to the users in Singapore, the profit margin is huge.

That is the grouse.

Water is a commodity and resource like oil and sugar cane.....and Singapore is a desperate buyer....why should msia settle for a slice of the pie when they can control the whole pie?why should msia give up control of the supply of water while Singapore makes money hand over fist with it?

Because some stupid contract said so?if a 100 year contract demands Russia to sell her gas to SG at 3 rubles a cubic meter or Brunei to sell all her oil to sg at $3 a barrel essentially for nothing.....wtf would do u think they would do?I'm surprised SG has not been carpet bombed by msia yet.commodities should be floated on the market.....u want it u jolly well pay for it....ain't no free lunch from this world or goddam SG ever.

The point is not this amount or that amount or the amount agreed even before we were born or after we were born. The point, is the Old Fox, is saying they make so much money from selling that 'liquid gold'. They own the supply, they should get a cut of the profit, by charging more at today's rate like 30 sen per 1,000 gallons or even RM 3....converted to Sing Dollars, the seller across the causeway will still make money. All they need to do, is to raise the water tariffs, increase the indirect taxes like waterborne fees, conservation fees etc..they will still make a profit, for they pay in Ringgit & sell in SINGAPORE DOLLARS.

A share of the kuih Lapis is what the old fox wants...for they have been making so much, with that 'layered' costs.

When Mudland threatened to tear up the agreement, the PAP declare that act would be interpreted as war. Are we ready to fight a war with Mudland if Mahathir decides to stop selling water to sinkapore?

The good doctor knows full well that the price of water was set by an international agreement under the terms of which Malaysia also buys treated water from Singapore at a low price, and buys considerably more than it is entitled to buy under the terms of the agreement. Why should it do that unless it is getting a good deal?


We have gone through this umpteen times when he was last PM. He knows we are not going to change our position.


The reason is simple: if we allow Malaysia to change the terms of solemn international agreements anytime the terms of the agreement become inconvenient to them, where will it end?

the coke you drink is easily 2.5.

pH 5 to 8 is pretty common physiological condition FYI. there is something call buffering in our system. so seriously all these pH of the water etc will affect you is nonsense.
