Two Korean engineers were charged for corruption in the State Courts on Monday (4 February).
Lee Dongchul, 38, and Lee Myungjae, 31, both employed by Dongah Geological Engineering, were charged with accepting bribes from employees of other engineering firms.
Dongchul, a civil engineer, was slapped with one count of corruptly accepting $3,000 gratification from Sim Cher Kwang and Andy Sia Chee Shang of Fasten Hardware and Engineering for business favours. He will next appear in court on 23 March.
Myungjae, a planning engineer, was charged with two counts of corruptly obtaining $4,000 in gratification from Lee Cheng Wee of Taka Hardware and Engineering and Sim for business favours.
Myungjae intends to plead guilty. His case will be heard again on 27 February.
Sim, Sia and Cheng Wee were previously charged on 7 November last year with corruption and other related offences. Their cases are still pending before the court.
The two Koreans can each be fined up to $100,000 and/or jailed up to five years if they were convicted.
