Late 30s and Still Rejected: The Harsh Reality of Upskilling in Singapore

Because Grab fare is $9 on starting vs ppl take bus maybe $1.20. Can take 7 to 8 times the trip for $9. For me I don’t admire people with cars and condos because me and my classmates know enough from sch and work.

Wow Grab fare so expensive  no wonder they said driving Grab these days cannot make much money

At these 50 plus age .. many of their kids study in university or polytechnic now so dun assume their little cash savings is enough for a longer term :frown:
Don’t feel sad for them. If their kids smart enough then get scholarship. If not smart enough, go out and work and get a skill and upskill. All local Universities and polytechnics got scholarships and bursaries for needy families.

Many of them study in Kaplan for a degree

The heydays for the 50 plus sinkie men who currently jobless now is over as they are likely unable to find back their PMET jobs & having high private condominiums expenses to pay

Based on current prices, we have reached the day when only the top earners are able to possess a set of 4 wheels. This will in fact make car ownership even more attractive to those who can afford it.
Like I say before, if some people have small heads want to wear big hats please go ahead. No one is stopping them. Tax these people even more especially those who buy condos and cars and other luxuries. IRAS want to be BFFs with these rich people.

IRAS every year or so automatically will look for these people. People dare say they buy condos and cars but no one dare say they are also generous contributors to IRAS. Muacks.

The current prices and future inflation will make it attractive for those who are able to afford car ownership and some of those who can’t to buy cars. Because it’s a luxury.

Kb no use. They also see and compare with china that they are also having many jobless issues. Then sinkie is still way better than them in solving the jobless problem.
China unemployment rate is even higher than Singapore and their youth quite pitiful at some cities have to work so many jobs just to barely survive. Some are luckier choose the lie flat lifestyle. Depends.

That is why some people never think whether want to be yearly gd friends with IRAS before they buy Condos. It’s their choice so don’t be sad.

Best is those who buy those small condos with very few neighbours for privacy and space. Every month contribute very generously to the upkeep of the condo

I remember that the :devilish: suckers who owned private condominiums & EC often said that the HDB dwellers did not hard work ..

And I am happy to see these old suckers are jobless & live a pathetic life now :frown:

There are many dog eye see people small people all around. Don’t care about them. Some of them stay in very normal condo but act like very rich. Let them be.

Some condos are cheaper than HDB but people don’t even want to buy because of the location

This is not the worst. One of my friend who works in the bank told me she knows of people who owe a huge bank loan on their condos and they can’t pay and end up the condo is under a 2nd loan with a finance company and can’t even sell n get into bigger debt and over there cry father cry mother can’t afford loan and condo kena taken away

These Hao lian people let them be. Some of their condos don’t appreciate much or some outskirt that it isn’t won’t the time to travel or some condos have dodgy neighbours doing hanky Panky stuff like the Geylang condo.

Just because they own one condo unit means own the sky.

Some condo neighbours are the worst of the lot like other people’s little children cry they complain and other people’s dog in the lift also complain.

Some condos are so cramped in the corridor that it’s impossible not to knock into a neighbour while opening the door or have slippers and shoes outside the corridor. Plus most doors shut in newer condos.

Like why would people pay for a 1000sqft condo unit and get say ard 900sqft to 950sqft of living space because they have to pay for the aircon deck area or some lame planter area to the developer. Rich people’s logic which most don’t understand

Ask the old suckers whether want bank to come take their condo away then they happy. Some people are like that, look rich but empty inside.

Maybe day in day out husband and wife quarrel and children can’t study n get lousy grades who knows.

Now job market is very bad .. the 50 plus years old jobless men has no hope to get a PMET job not even a contract or temporary job

Those who owned private condominium or EC .. life is very tough for them

The 50+ neighbours at my condo don't seem to have any difficulty continuing to own their home and a car or 2 after they opted for early retirement. They either set aside enough from their high paying former jobs or received a massive inheritance.
Depends on how long ago they bought their condo. If it is within the last 8 years than very high chance most will still be on a bank loan and some already 50+ and lost their jobs and can’t pay for the condo

True. Even younger fresh graduates have a hard time looking for job. Even during my time, fresh graduates also have a harder time as well. Dunno why and where the jobs exactly go to

There are quite a number of 50 plus years old jobless men staying in private condos & having difficulty in paying their monthly mortgages :frown:
It's ok...some one in this forum implied that private property owners will vote pap...bcos oppies might implement inheritance taxes...so these owners don't want their kids to pay the tax..
