I still see businesses in the malls closing down.

Since this will probably be an elections year, I hope unemployed & soon to be unemployed Sporeans hold the gov't responsible..

First time i agree with sam on all counts on this subject.

IMO, marriage is like a business joint venture, courtship is like marketing and maybe some hard selling required....etc. see it from this perspective and worth giving it a though.

agree with you on the success and luck thingy..... but for buddies and love, has it occur to you that perhaps you haven't met one? It does not depend on luck or fate, it's not an investment or a business, it could be something you give/provide from your heart that people reciprocate?

Holding some other party responsible for ones problems does not solve a thing.

Problems are resolved when they are faced head on with determination, hard work and perseverance.

PAP needs to be kicked out because I don't think Sporeans have much of a future under the PAP. Its obvious that a gap developing between elites/cronies and lesser mortals. Loss of the CPF, price hikes, stagnant job situation,...

I have no doubt that those planning to go against the PAP know how tough its going to be. They know there'll be alot of 'fixing" by the PAP.

The opposition need support from the citizens. I only hope enough citizens realise its their future is with a stronger opposition.

Do you honestly think that Sinkieland has a better future if the PAP is voted out???

Isn't it about time the nation faced the reality that the country simply isn't a viable long term entity no matter which party is at the helm.

The economic model the country was built upon doesn't exist anymore. Manufacturing is dead. So too is trading. The people have no special skills and the country has spawned no enduring world class companies that are vital to earning foreign revenue.

The Pappies didn't bring casinos, motor racing and theme parks to the country by choice. They did so simply out of shear desperation in an attempt to emulate Monaco's revenue model. Any other political party would be forced to go down the same route. There are no other options.

Don't you think the cost structure of Spore is out of control:confused:

An opposition is unlikely have any vested interest in maintaining the current system. If they are honest they'll do the necessary cuts.

if what you say is true about Spore pricing itself out of the market for industries like manufacturing, ,..Then we obviously can't afford multi-millionaire pay for civil servants.

Maybe its time for the leaders to live with what we can afford. No more dreams of being a hub for this and that. World class this & that

I agree that overheads in Singapore are way too high. However, no matter how economical the cost structure, a healthy revenue stream is still the most basic requirement of any model regardless of how low overheads are. Singapore has very few options when it comes to earning foreign exchange.

In a country where citizens are so used to living beyond their means, the idea that the majority of Singaporeans would be willing to sign up to an austerity package and embrace an egalitarian lifestyle is simply wishful thinking.

I can't speak for the gov't but I do live within my means. I have Simple meals, one home completely paid for, no car.

If all those taxes the gov't is making were removed, many Sporeans would be living within their means

My impression is that the majority of Sporeans wouldn't have a problem living austerly. Many of my colleagues have simple lifestyles, working long hours, spending time with their families. Spore is not unique, some will overspend, many will not.

As I see it the biggest wasters of $$$ is the PAP. Million dollar salaries, loosing billions of tax dollars on white elephant projects, overspending on defence, loss making GLCs,...

Even if Spore becomes a fishing village, its a case of the PAP needing Sporeans rather than Sporeans need ing the PAP. Once Sporeans realise that the PAP will be history.

Opportunities abound in any scenario. However, they aren't always immediately obvious. They need to be sought and pursued.

Singapore is a great place for making money. with close to 5 million people packed into a tiny Island, it's every marketeer's dream.
