Who has all the resources & money$$$ in Spore
Individuals don't have helicopters, heavy machinery, ships,... In the news I see Aust, Japanese,.., sending aid, rescue teams,.. to these affected countries. So what is Spore a first world country & a member of ASEAN doing to help
This is a gov't which always have spare billions to loose. Don't forget they have been making alot of $$$ from the maid levy & worker levy from the many of the indo & filipino working in Spore.
There is also such a thing as being a GOOD & HELPFUL neighbour. Not forgetting that some Sporeans are in those countries & who may be in trouble.
I haven't heard of any response by the Spore's gov't. Are they waiting to see what others are doing before they act
I'm sure you guys read the papers with the monetary assistance that sg have arranged for indon and pinayland. Anyway, a small team of doctors left this morning to Padang to assertain what meds/equipt/logistics supplies etc are needed before the main party of SCDF arrives for rescue ops, pending green light from indon.
Just hope that when relief supplies arrives from other countries, these won't be "watered down" by 40% going to the top military/politicians for themselves as happened in banda aceh...:(

No I didn't know about this, I have been monitoring events through the radio & TV. Expect them to report more of the Spore response now they have taken some action

the indons and pinoys earning money by working in sg then send back to their hometown..ea FTrash send $10.....millions contributed back to their homeland already.
The way I see it is that whatever $$$ the Sporean gov't decides to give out in aid for the disasters, would never be used to help out Spore citizens. It would probably mean that some FT in Spore would have to make do with less.
At least it is helping some needy foreigner rather than the better off foreigner in Spore.
I'm sure the 154th will do the honours altho US$50 - 70K here and there everytime a disaster occurs is small change but factor in the relief assistance in manpower and tech assistance, it'd be much more. It's a one-way process but helps to pave the way for sand, air-space, prosper/help thy neighbour and diplomacy all round.
