is it 100% car driver fault?

The law should just be re written to make it absolutely clear that cyclists own the road and that cars have to be on the lookout for the more vulnerable road users at all times. This will make drivers super cautious and the accident rate will drop considerably.
You mean it isnt?

Oh well another sinkie stupidity.

It should be obvious car drivers have to be extra careful for pedestrians and cyclists.

My point is that if you value your life you should be careful as the more vulnerable pedestrian and cyclist. Dont assume.

Assume we all know that saying ....

Isn't it an irony that the very people who complain so much about rules and regulations imposed by the PAP will themselves demand specific rules and regulations when it suits their own purposes.

I started cycling at the age of 5. At the age of 7 we were already on the streets along with many other kids. We cycled to the beach, to the school field nearby to play football, to the community centre to watch TV, to the pasar malams to buy sweets and kuti, kuti.

The vast majority of us learned how to ride on the streets to preserve our own lives. We may not have followed the road code to the letter but those who were reckless would pay for it one way or another sometimes with their lives and those who had a sense of self preservation are still around today.

Cyclists who shot red lights were often killed. I witnessed such deaths periodically and it taught me to be careful because a cyclist always comes out second best against a larger vehicle.

Nowadays everyone wants everyone else to be licensed to do just about anything. How about getting a license in order to be the wanker that you are. :roflmao: No jerking off allowed without specific approval from the ministry of home and bedroom affairs.

Me wanking in private only affects me....whereas a cyclist along a public thoroughfare affects everyone using it.

Licensing is not the end all but there are cyclists who think they rule the roads should be educated to think otherwise.

Like for example, there is currently now no clarity on many road users as to who has the right of way....the cyclist cycling on the zebra crossing or the motorist?

The logic of cyclist pushing the bike onto the zebra crossing is that there is no sudden presence of a cyclist in front of a vehicle at the crossing. Even walking pedestrians are taught how to look before crossing left alone a speeding cyclist zooming across.

In this particular case, the cars are all stationery when cyclist crossed on zebra crossing.

The problem is not cyclists thinking they rule the roads. On the contrary it is the cars that have the idea that just because they pay road tax and COE that they can run down other innocent road users without a care in the world.

Watch the video. This is not the case of a car approaching a crossing and suddenly meeting a cyclist shooting across. It was a clear cut case of a cyclist proceeding because the car was stationary. The driver of the car then accelerated from a standstill while totally ignoring the cyclist that was already crossing in front of the car.

What do you expect the cyclist to do in that situation that would meet your approval?

you sound right for this case.
what is your opinion on the cyclist in post#11

That case is pretty straightforward too. The cyclist approached at speed, the car saw the cyclist and hit the brakes but was unable to stop in time. I would never ride that way on a bike unless I had a death wish. I would make sure that I had made eye contact with the driver first. It's the first thing you need to learn for the sake of self preservation. If you don't you'll soon be dead because there are many instances when the cyclist has a clear right of way but cars still cut them off at junctions.

Accidents are just what they are...not intended or planned.

As long as there are other users, there will be occasions where paths are crossed. Nothing one can do but just be more cautious when approaching areas of turbulence.

Accidents may not be intended or planned but in the majority of accidents there is blame to be allocated.

A driver runs off the road and kills your wife and children. An investigation shows that he was watching a movie on his phone while driving. He did not intentionally kill your family so does that mean you shake his hand and tell him "no hard feelings it's just an accident it's not your fault the movie was riveting".

sounds legit

sounds legit

I'm always legit because I am of sound mind and possess impeccable judgement. That is why I am one of the few here who realises that Trump is the best and that Covid is just a bad flu.
