that is not just accusing them for no reason
they have been running the transport ministry since day 1
a simple rule they can't figure out themselves whether it is to dismount and push or just stop and look out
different lta and tp officers in charge send out different messages
whoever is in there in charge of all these needs to be sacked gaolat!

surely that's what will happen if they think they have right of way on zebra crossing and chiong without stopping to look out for traffic. sort of deserve it i would agree.
where there’s a red light, i will stop just like any junction with traffic stops. if there’s no light, i will slow down as there’s a ramp (for the handicap) and watch out for pedestrians or moving vehicles. if vehicles are a safe distant away can cross without dismounting or stopping. of course must slow down and look around. most of the time sinkie motorists are rule conscious (to avoid fines) but not safety conscious. penny wise pound foolish. and they have tunnel vision. they’ll either die or get into serious accidents driving on u.s. roads.

not all cyclist are like you the considerate man.
just like not all virgin are sane.
so there must be clear rules, laws, regulations to govern these insane and unreasonable people.

nowdays drivers always on phone, talking, messaging

There is no jurisdiction on cyclists in SG....

1) No licence plates on bicycles
2) No need highway code test to qualify you as a bona-fide cyclist
3) No age restrictions

even with north korean rules cyclists and motorists will cut corners and break them. there’s no perfect road system when pedestrians, cyclists, motorists meet at intersections.

And rightly so because that's what a bicycle is... a very basic contraption that enables someone who can balance on two wheels to travel efficiently and quickly.

Had there been age restrictions, tests and license requirements I would not have been able to cycle to school from the age of 11 along with many other students who did not have the luxury of a private car or the desire to wake up at 5 am in order to get to school by bus.

There were many students from my cohort who cycled to school. The bike shed used to be bursting at the seams.

None in my cohort were killed or maimed. Cars and buses gave us due care and consideration because most the drivers used bicycles too.

It is the cars not the cycists that make the roads dangerous. The sooner we get rid of as many cars as possible the better it will be for all of us.

i walk everyday 2.3km to primary and secondary school and another 2.3km back home. parents say got legs why cycle and waste money on bike. then went round island cycling at 16, gotta borrow friends.

You must at least make sure all cyclists understand the basic highway code as they also road users.....

Isn't it an irony that the very people who complain so much about rules and regulations imposed by the PAP will themselves demand specific rules and regulations when it suits their own purposes.

I started cycling at the age of 5. At the age of 7 we were already on the streets along with many other kids. We cycled to the beach, to the school field nearby to play football, to the community centre to watch TV, to the pasar malams to buy sweets and kuti, kuti.

The vast majority of us learned how to ride on the streets to preserve our own lives. We may not have followed the road code to the letter but those who were reckless would pay for it one way or another sometimes with their lives and those who had a sense of self preservation are still around today.

Cyclists who shot red lights were often killed. I witnessed such deaths periodically and it taught me to be careful because a cyclist always comes out second best against a larger vehicle.

Nowadays everyone wants everyone else to be licensed to do just about anything. How about getting a license in order to be the wanker that you are. :roflmao: No jerking off allowed without specific approval from the ministry of home and bedroom affairs.

Your school was 2.3km away. My school was 17km away.

Honestly there won’t be much car accidents soon as 5G and satellite self driven autonomous cars are much more safer and we’re only about less than 5~10 years away.

Advanced food, healing, and AI humanoid technologies are so out of this world the only hindrances is over population hence Agenda 21 & this scam COVID ofc.....

That's out of date! There is no requirement to dismount. You are another twit who does not keep up with the times.

Singapore LTA is fucktard.

Really stupid reasons. Not practical? Baby on the bike? All the more dismount and cross pushing is safer.

Oh well. Sg damn dumb.

Anyway car driver will always be at fault cos the car is far more dangerous than the bike.

But hey as a cyclist you want to live right? Then be careful of cars for heavens sake!

If cyclist ride with the attitude that cars have to be careful for cyclists then recipe for death.

Be on the lookout. Accidents will happen and cyclist will always lose to the car

The law should just be re written to make it absolutely clear that cyclists own the road and that cars have to be on the lookout for the more vulnerable road users at all times. This will make drivers super cautious and the accident rate will drop considerably.
