Inerrancy vs history of the canon - Christians Let's discuss

I respect your honesty that’s admirable. But I hope you see why these questions are important. If the Bible is claimed to be the inerrant Word of God, yet:

  • Christians disagree on which books belong in it,
  • early manuscripts show later additions and textual changes, and
  • it took 300+ years for the canon to even be finalized,
then wouldn’t it make sense to first study the historical process before assuming perfection? Faith is one thing, but history is another. If God truly gave a perfect book, the evidence should support that claim consistently across all manuscripts, canons, and traditions. That’s why I think understanding the history is essential before making absolute statements about inerrancy.

I do not wish to debate on the above topic and defer to more learned and knowledgeable people to do so.

If the truth of Christianity rests on the authority of the Bible, and yet you cannot defend the Bible’s reliability yourself, why should anyone accept your invitation without first investigating the historical evidence independently?

I reiterate that my knowledge is limited and I believe that if any sincere person will diligently seek God, God will guide him to the truth.

Ok. So if a person is a God seeker, and it turns out that Hinduism is the right religion, does it mean objectively that Hinduism is the truth?

I respect your faith, but you’ve now shared multiple videos and articles claiming the Bible is perfect and Christianity is the only way.

Since you’re encouraging others to adopt this belief, wouldn’t it be reasonable to expect that you can explain why the Bible can be trusted historically?

If the foundation of the message is the Bible, but we cannot even agree on which books belong in it, isn’t that worth understanding before making absolute claim?

Thanks for all your input.

As I repeatedly said, my knowledge is limited and I do not have all the answers.

I believe in Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible and that God will guide the diligent seeker to the truth.

I do not wish to discuss on this topic anymore.
