With regards to hijab, schools can make policy very clear that it is not mandatory for muslim girls to wear. They are free to choose and her choice will be protected by the state.

Even in Malaysia it's not mandatory but peer pressure and also harassment from teachers made female students wear it.societal pressure is what makes them wear it even when theres law saying it's voluntary.whats the point of having non mandatory policy when it's not enforced and followed

Because Christians are ultimately saved by Grace, not saved by their own works or by forcing their personal religious beliefs on others.

With regards to the hijab case, it is obvious that it is moslem men who are at the forefront of this issue, not the moslem women who are the ones who actually wear the hijab. The moslem men are at the forefront of this matter simply because they want to have the right to force women to wear hijab. It's about forcing your own religious piety and beliefs upon others, even within the same religion.
