"For workers who are affected by retrenchments and are unemployed, my advice would be - quickly get a job which is doable. Better to get under shelter, out of the rain and then from there look at what better opportunities there are rather than stay in the rain to look for the perfect shelter," said Mr Heng.
Wow! Heng Chee Bye so brilliant huh! But i thought people all over the world are like that..must teach ones meh! This Chee Bye Heng knows that he can't 1 to 1 contest against opp in the single ward since he had lost to WP Low Thia Khiang in Hougang in GE1997, so he seek for "better opportunity" in GRC under a minister's umbrella to "stay out of rain"

SINGAPORE: The Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC) is working on enhancing its partnership with Singapore's Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and the labour movement to better help workers during the current downturn.
Deputy labour chief Heng Chee How said details will be announced later.
The deputy secretary-general of NTUC was speaking at the CDAC Skills Training Family Day attended by some 1,500 people. The event paired family activities and job-related workshops.
Speaking to reporters later, Mr Heng said the downturn will affect job growth and security.
He advised workers who already have jobs to stay in their jobs and ensure they remain employable by keeping their skills relevant.
The CDAC, for example, would have supported some 6,000 training places by year's end. Mr Heng said this reflects the growing awareness among workers on the importance of training.
