Min Hann was young and promising.
The President of the Republic Polytechnic (RP) Student Council and Secretary-General of the OneRP Community, he represented his institution on Reach Singapore’s Youth Advisory Panel.
As RP's Most Outstanding Graduate in 2024, he was offered a double degree (with a university merit scholarship) in Engineering and Business Administration at the National University of Singapore, as well as a placement at King's College London.
The sky’s the limit for Min Hann.
Full of zest, zeal, confidence and ideals, Min Hann gave himself to public service and grassroots activities.
Selected for Officer Cadet School, he gave his best.
As a Platoon Commander (Combat Engineers), he led his men with distinction and sought personal growth for each one of them.
As a leader in the Singapore Armed Forces, he led and discharged his duties with fairness, diligence and a strong sense of accountability.
He was recommended for early promotion and assumed the position of Lieutenant in January 2026.
Min Hann was an opinionated, accomplished man, a filial son and a doting and steadfast partner.
He was not perfect, so he opened his heart to learn.
He built on the strengths of others and reflected on their mistakes.
At every milestone, he paused, reflected and gave thanks.
Min Hann was fully cognisant that it took a village to raise him and carry him through the storms.
As the eldest, he was thankful for the sacrifices his parents made.
Min Hann was their pride and joy.
As the beau, he took responsibility and gave his love selflessly.
Min Hann was her pillar, best friend, confidant and No. 1 fanboy
He loved her very much, and she was always there for him.
With every morning glory, he strived to be a better man.
On the brink of failure, he did not give up.
When he succeeded, he expressed his gratitude,
His life is one of advancing and overcoming.
And Min Hann did it.
You did it, Min Hann. You were grateful and took nothing for granted.
And we are all looking forward to what you'll bring to your family, community and nation in the future.
But it was not to be.
Leukaemia came for you. You regrouped and actively sought treatment.
You took good care of yourself, and the military supported and took good care of you.
You wanted to return to the field – to your family, to Abigail, to your platoon and to the village that raised you so well.
Min Hann wanted to live, but his time was running out.
His death, after a massive ischemic stroke, was sudden and quick.
In his short life, Min Hann blazed a trail, and his untimely passing is our collective loss.
We will meet again, Min Hann. Farewell, Sir!
