""Dr Tan will be holding his rally at 7.30pm on Thursday at Hall 8 of the Singapore Expo.

He said speakers will have to stay within the boundaries of the Constitution. This means they should not engage in day-to-day politics or raise bread-and-butter issues.""

So much for a caring President, short of saying you die your business.

May I suggest that Nathan be installed for one more term ?:oIo:

He has some points--he should not interfere with say Chen Show Mao's MP's work. He's not the MP.

tcb draws support from the older generation as he understood their needs and aspirations very well from his amakeng days. but now, with us the younger generation, he does not understand our needs and aspirations that much. yes the president should not be involved in day-to-day politcs - that is mp job. his job is to be involved in strategic politics e.g. choice of key appt holders like AG, CPIB, ps of the ministries, that influence the day-to-day politcs.

Aspiration as defined by LKY?
We, the citizens of Singapore,
pledge ourselves as one united people,
regardless of race, language or religion,
to build a democratic society
based on justice and equality
so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and
progress for our nation.

That's his stance all along.
He portrays the prez role as a retired patriarch. Behind the scenes nag and nag, and if things go wrong he'll quietly tell parly "See, I told you so. Don't listen?", shrug, then mutter to himself "What to do, it happened", assigning the incidence to the natural order of the cosmos.

This interpretation is not unconvincing amongst the voters. And he looks quite grandfatherly too.

I shall be there, its walking distant from my house.

No offense but going by the way he is talking........i think its going to be a very boring rally......hope his rally can help sway more of the PAP supporters over to his camp.......hate to see this nice gentlemen lose his deposit.

TCB's campaign is very clear by now.

He wants the fully salary; and he wants Istana all to himself.

hahaha...what happened to tcb supporters in this forum.....
suddenly all jumped ship....leaving tcb to be hung and dried here...

And then he must not forget to say "Let's move on."
