The Pappies fought an existential political battle with the Chi-coms back in 1950-60s. They learnt that to WIN they must deny the Communists access to all democratic institutions and resources, such as the press, community orgs and trade unions, and apply police state tactics against them such as mass arrests, psychological interrogations and indefinite detentions without trial. Give a Communist access to any of the above, they will subvert and use it against you.
Since I believe the only good Commie is a dead one, I am good with PAP 1G's handling. Unfortunately, PAP kept these mechanisms to subvert our demoncratic process and they invented new ones to keep relevant with the times, like the GRC. If our PM turns truly evil like Najib or Hitler (oh ya he came to power via the vote) may God bless Singapore!
