Fishbuff... How are IT jobs in Brisbane going? Or Adelaide?

Hey Fishbuff,

I'm thinking of moving back to Brisbane in a few years time because my aged parents can't take the cold down south.

How are IT jobs going up there?

Don't need too fancy a job or too high a pay, just looking for a steady source of income. Am targeting middle-management or specialist IT roles which require 3-5 years experience.

Wife may take up a part time IT job if those are available.

How are those going, or should I just stay in Melbourne?

Anyone here working in Adelaide IT - How is the market in Adelaide?

Thanks in advance for any comments/help.

Count yourself lucky that you choose Australia in the first place because Melbourne, by Canadian standards is mild. Average low of 6°C, with no more than -2°C is nothing.

Sorry, too crowded and stressful for me. Although yes, Melbourne is not too far off. And houses out of my budget

Aiyah, some places not crowded at all lah. Compared to Singapore, some suburbs is like landed private housing leh. kekeek Yes, its expensive, but I think Brissie getting there as well.

IT job here is seasonal and largely depend on the field of expertise/level that you are aiming for. You should contact me earlier coz my last place was looking for a team leader to head the team and i did pulled in my ex-blangah IT colleague in. A07 level. shit easy job that knocked off at 4:15pm everyday unless u want SDO..

go to www.jobs.qld.gov.au and www.applydirect.com.au, u will find the IT jobs that u want. but be warned, dont expect cutting edge technology nor break neck speed of work, everything here is slow, people in my office are knocking off as earlier as 3pm daily. nothing is urgent unless the whole production system goes belly up.

weather is warm even now as i type, im wearing singlet and short. im not sure if autumn is coming at all. houses? depend on where u want to stay.

personally i would like to work in bigger cities like Melbourne and Sydney, partly my skill are only in demand with larger organisations and the mode of work; contracting. and since the day i came here, i have been kicking myself for being easy to be pursuaded and moved here instead of melbourne.

Thanks mate for the information; in that case I'll probably be hanging around here for a while more. Not too interested in working in the public sector. Sigh...
