Poverty in Australia
A 15 month-long Australian Senate inquiry, entitled “A hand up not a hand out: Renewing the fight against poverty”, identifies a continuing decline in income for many poor households and emphasises the central role of employment opportunities in tackling poverty. It highlights these points:
Twenty-one per cent of Australians — about 3.6 million people — live on less than $A400 per week, which is $31 less than the full-time minimum wage
The Democrats believe that the level of poverty in Australia is unacceptable. The wealth gap between the rich and poor in Australia has grown over the past decade. Despite more than a decade of continual economic growth, this prosperity has left many in middle Australia standing still and many of the poorest worse off.
In recent times, the Government has even pushed through legislation which is directly contributing to higher poverty by reducing the incomes of many sole parents and people with disabilities.
Who is affected by Poverty?

Australian jailed for 'thrill' killing of Chinese
SYDNEY — A man who murdered a Chinese woman in Australia was Wednesday given a life sentence for the brutal attack which the judge described as a premeditated, "thrill" killing of a complete stranger.
Stavros Papadopoulos, 22, pleaded guilty to murdering 26-year-old University of Tasmania accounting student Zhang "Tina" Yu in his Hobart apartment in June 2009, reports said.
His accomplice, 22-year-old Daniel Jo Williams, was sentenced to 10 years in jail on a charge of manslaughter.
Tasmania's Supreme Court heard that the men met Yu at a takeaway pizza shop in the early hours of the morning and had driven her to Papadopoulos's apartment, The Mercury newspaper in Hobart said.
Over the next three hours, she was subjected to such terrible violence and sexual abuse by Papadopoulos that she pleaded to be killed quickly, it said.
After being repeatedly punched, thrown against walls and dragged around by her hair, Papadopoulos suddenly smashed a large concrete brick onto Yu's head before undressing her, placing her in a bathtub and drowning her.
Williams, who had spent most of this time smoking cannabis, then helped his friend choke Yu in the bath before they placed her body in the boot of their car and dumped it in a river.
In sentencing, Justice David Porter said "little, if anything" had been put forward to explain Papadopoulos' depraved behaviour.
"This was a brutal and terrible killing of a complete stranger," he said.
"It was done with forethought and for the sake or thrill of doing it."
The court heard that earlier on the night of the murder, Papadopoulos had told Williams he wanted to "kill and rape a bitch".

Australia: The Worst Country in the World - 02-10-2010
I don't know how many other Aussies there are here on the forum to discuss this with but ill just let everyone know how our once great country is going to hell.
1. Incoming Internet Filter
Our government is forcing upon us a mandatory filter at the ISP level to filter out certain content deemed inappropriate (By the Government and backed by minority groups), such as:
-Child Porn (I'm all for trying to block child porn, that is a good idea)
-Porn with women who have A Cup breasts... Its seems now that in Australia naked women with A Cup breasts are children... (They have banned it from mainstream/retail porn already...)
-Euthanasia Information...
-Drugs Information...
-Abortion Information...
-And soon You-tube... (We aren't sure whether they want to censor children or ?) What on earth should be censored from you-tube?
2. No 18+ games.
Not only this but we don't have an 18+ rating for video-games. There is 1 person standing in the way of it happening and he is backed by religious/minority groups. The argument he spews forth is that allowing 18+ games in means that younger kids will be able to get their hands on "Rape/Fetish/Horribly Gruesome games etc". Which obviously isn't the case. Its a whole "Think of the kids" situation, they don't have a legitimate/sane reason not to have an 18+ rating. Here in Australia currently when certain new release games come out, they get rated M15+ where as in the rest of the world they get an R18+ rating (Best case recently is the new AVP game, it was submitted to our ratings board and they denied it M15+, which means its banned. They told the company making it to edit it like they do to every other company. And the company said... No. Its an adult game, its not getting an edit. So now its got an M15+ rating with no edits)... Stupid right?
Our country is just falling apart. The people we vote in don't do what they promise. They follow their own agendas and that is all. Our government is taking away rights of the people that other major countries take for granted and there is nothing we can do. We used to go to war to protect peoples freedom and rights. But now we are having them taken away by our own leaders? Its the principal, it is not right. Our government is spitting on the memory of our people who fought for freedom in the past. If i had the opportunity to move to another country I would jump at it. I am not proud to be Australian any more...
Anyone feel free to comment or look up these things in more detail, i didn't want to go into any detail as I'd take up about 4million lines of text. I can promise you its just ridiculous

This thread is all about migrant losers like arse168, neddy, ash007 who failed big time in kangaroo land and now have to spend their time talking big online.
It is obvious in real life they are living a terrible life in kangaroo land n r tryying to preserve their dignity by trying to showoff here.
Dumbfucks, congrats on your whole family kena cancer. Hahaha.
46% of Australian marriages end in divorce. What is wrong with you people!?!
ABORTION
This may shock some of you, alright maybe only the ones that have their heads in the sand, but abortion is legal in all circumstances even when a reason is not given.
That’s right dear friends; when you live in Australia you can fornicate your brains out and when you’re done with all your filth, just kill that child that occurred because of your nastiness!
You don’t mess with the matters of the womb…at the end of the day it is still murder. You killed that child…their blood is on your hands! You are murderers plain and simple.
Australia is not only satisfied with killing millions of babies in its own country, it is now reaching out to underprivileged countries to "educate" them on how to commit abortions. They disguise it as helping maternal life. It doesn't matter how palatable you make that phrase, it is still murder. God's wrath is on the land of Australia and do you really wonder why? WAKE UP! You spend your days killing babies who did NOTHING to you. All you freaks think about is how it's an inconvenience to you to have that child because it would cramp your whoring around style. Here are three words that you need to desperately hear: STOP KILLING BABIES!!!!
PROSTITUTION
In Queensland, private sex work and prostitution in a brothel are legal; however, unlicensed brothels and massage parlors used for prostitution are strictly prohibited….oh now you pretend to have a standard! You aren’t fooling anyone!
In New South Wales, prostitution is legal except near churches, schools, hospitals and similar venues. Does anyone else see the big elephant standing in the middle of the room here? Anyone….anyone? You upside down people think that if you keep it from the eyes of church-goers and children that the Lord can’t see you? Oh, how totally wrong you are!
ADOPTION
Fags are allowed to adopt children in the Australian Capitol Territory and Western Australia. Stepparent adoption is allowed in Tasmania….um…..ok!?! There are still certain provinces in Australia that don’t allow same-sex couples to adopt children….it won’t be long before that will change! These evil beasts aren’t satisfied until everyone bows down to their disgusting lusts!
Australia is a destination country for women from Southeast Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, and the People’s Republic of China (P.R.C.) trafficked for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation. Prostitution is legal except for in the states of Western Australia and South Australia. Many trafficking victims were women who traveled to Australia voluntarily to work in both legal and illegal brothels, but were subject to conditions of debt bondage or involuntary servitude. There were reports of several men and women from India, the P.R.C., South Korea, the Philippines, and Ireland migrating to Australia temporarily for work, but subsequently subjected to conditions of forced labor, including fraudulent recruitment, confiscation of travel documents, confinement, and debt bondage.
ossie land what a heaven
