It's funny, both are Chinese, but Taiwan was never famous for pirated goods. Yes, the made-in-Taiwan label wasn't and still isn't as technologically prestigious and reliable as Japan, Germany, UK or USA, but Taiwan makes their own stuff in their own name. Acer, Asus and MSI are famous computer brands. They are already slowly gaining the market because they are cheaper and at least, offer decent quality. Japanese products are the best but the price can be a turn-off to penny-pinchers.

compare to singapore ...DVD is still very expensive in japan ..thats why when im in singapore for holiday ,i buy DVD as a gift to my japanese friends ...

those cheap DVD you are talking about are at least 3years ago movie !!!

Because big companies controlled the markets and they wanted to promote the more expensive and lucrative DVD format. In developed and well regulated markets, there's no competition from pirates. In regions where pirating on VCD is easy and cheap, big companies then release VCD versions. You'd notice in early days, they even encoded DVD for different regions. Nowadays then there're multi-region DVD players after DVD became the commonly accepted and affordable standard.

heh brother i agree with what you say.haha, i recently borrowed one wushu book from the library and saw this stuff totally match what you said.have a look...
No any country in this world dare to destory their own culture beside the farking Communist China.Even India, although their economic not as advance as China, they have deep respect for their own root and culture!!! But look at fake Communist China???
