F&B labour market very tight

I suggest widening the dependency ratio but perhaps to quell those xenophobic concerns, perhaps a higher levy beyong a certain percentage and a deposit from employer

Give amnesty to those who have stayed on beyond their social visit or work permit they are human beings providing real economic value to society

With yuan strengthening there will be some job displacement in China. Some 6 million graduates emerge every year - we should be able to get some top talent to come here to boost our economy

They can join as executives and managers, so no only as waiters and chefs

The PRC dynamic spirit will help to boost the SME sector

funeral biz also good... everyone has to die !!:D:D

Boom your backside . Francis Foo also agreed it's going down the drain if not for the Christmas season .

it is easy to recruit and lure them with $$$
but once they have earned enough, they will migrate to us/europe..

although you can get their youthful years, doubt you wanna train them and not be able to retain them?

btw i suggest getting only chinese females.. no point getting chinese males to fill executive positions.. we have tonnes of singaporeans fit for the job

rental is sky high. F&B folks have to target high volume to make profit, or they have to raise food prices. then people will come once and never return.

its killing everyone.

i find the service level of the PRC staffers questionable...

some are good and genuine, some are just like their Mainland counterparts...BAD.

biz so good ppl so free got time to kong lan wei in sammyboy....

What cock you talking? Spending is usually up at year end until CNY. if you take this as a barometer of the economy and hire more staff now, then they will be swatting flies from Mar until Oct.

ya, man! ...

evrybody has 2 eat ... u wanna eat @ hawker centre, fudcot or restaurant? ...

I seldom eat out nowadays, only occasionally with relatives and friends. And of course when I travel overseas, but I don't travel much nowadays.

I cook simple stuff at home, mostly bought from NTUC supermarket. It's more troublesome and not that much cheaper than eating at hawker centre. But hawker centre standards have gone to the dogs year after year. For about the same price but with a little more effort, I eat better foods like soba and sphagetti than low quality mee, bee hoon or kway teow.

Hawker centres are alright as there's still a good spread of good stalls around. The least likelihood of finding good stalls but excessively overpriced foods are at the foodcourts. I'm not saying all foodcourt stalls are bad and overpriced, but just few and far in between.

Good restaurants may be expensive but not overpriced, if value for money.

Talk cock sing song !!:oIo:

All you ever know how to cook is sodo mee ....!!:oIo:

I've stopped eating common instant noodle long ago, except occassionally for Thai sen-yai broad kway teow (not available in local or other version and very cheap too) and real Japanese ramen packs (about 3 to 4 times the price of common local instant noodle packs even under same Japanese brandname). Don't waste the good stuff by cooking it plain without ingredients. Some prawns or pork slices would bring out the flavour exponentially.

I'll be the 1st to admit I'm a lousy cook but cooking at home you get to decide what you put in & what you leave out.

When you get older nutrition is more important than taste & convenience. With what's available out there, mediocre food, it's not a big sacrifice to eat at home.
