Actually up till now I am not really sure of the details of this war. I know Croats wanted independence and I also know there is some Ethnic cleansing sort of idea within it. Anyway that's a different discussion.

My wife, is a 5 ft 7, blonde with green eyes, born in Europe, of Ukrainian descent.
When I arrived in Toronto in 1981, I rented a room with a Slovenian family.
That is why I went to Slovenian school with 6 year old children in grade one.
But I know some Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Polish and Ukrainian. I do not understand Russian. Ukrainian is harder for me due to the Cyrillic script.
My wife is fluent in Pokish and Ukrainian, not as fluent in Russian due to lack of use.
Our eldest and youngest children are trilingual, English, French and Ukrainian.
The eldest child is the most fluent in the other languages. She is trying to learn Mandarin.
