Cannot up the public transport. Because is basic necessity. Car is optional item.
I dont mind paying more ERP. I have been wishing for it to come.

Hopefully with the new rates, those who are using their last cent to pay for their car installments will finally leave their cars at home.

Wish that petrol up 10% and parking charge another 100%. All will have to leave car at home if cannot afford to pay. Now find that traffic jam is a wasting time and also finding parking space.

ERP rates to go up at 23 gantries across Singapore

SINGAPORE: Rates across 23
Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantries around the
island will go up from November.
This is part of the Land Transport Authority's
quarterly review of ERP-priced roads and expressways,
and may be the biggest single number of gantries
affected this year. Motorists passing through 23 of these
gantries around the island will have to pay more from November.
The affected gantries include two along the ECP at
Fort Road and KPE slip road, where rates will peak at S$4.
Rates at 11 gantries in the CBD will also go up by
S$1 to S$3 while another nine gantries in the
Orchard area will increase by S$1 to S$2.
Rates for other gantries remain unchanged.
The ERP is an electronic system of road pricing
based on a pay as you use model and according to the Land Transport Authority, rates are adjusted to manage traffic flow.
LTA added that ERP pricing also helps to keep
traffic flowing within the optimal speed range, which is
45 to 65km/h on expressways and 20 to 30km/h on arterial roads.
Motorists that Channel NewsAsia spoke with were
mixed in their reaction. "The increase is too sudden.
Maybe they should do a so called survey to go
around and check whether this is amount is
justifiable or not," said one of the motorists.
"If the traffic is already heavy every morning,
the gantries, if increase by a bit, I think the
traffic will be a bit more smooth," said another motorist.
The next ERP review will take place in
November for the December School Holidays.

no need to complain. the charges will continure to rise and rise.

don't drive. take public transport.....

When MRT and and buses become crowded, the fare will go up to reduce overcrowding. You take taxis, also increases.

Wah, very steep rise - from $3 to $4 - 25% increase.

Did the transport council gives its approval for such an increase?

Will our salary or bonus increase by this large increase? This will surely add up to the inflation.

should remove all ERP, remove all COE, let the traffic be jammed like Bangkok

but there must be exclusive bus lane for public transport. any private car using this lane will be confiscated

Communist idea. Should scrap COE categories, one COE one vehicle. ERP go up as high as it takes.

E.R.P ...EVERY ROAD PAY.
Now there not much road to widen , LTA will have to recoup the cost of inner ring road designated for MRT.Once they start digging underground again motorist have to cough out the bills. The amount of money collected from COE,should be use to lower public transportation.if they genuine want to see less congestion on the road.

LHL once comment that it the inspiration of every singaporean to own a car.
We can own a car but pay as you drive, even road tax, arf have subsequently been reduced but cost of owning a car has increase.

The reason why coe this year including commercial vehicle has shoot up
is because the quota allocated to each category has been significantly reduce
It crazy to pay $36,000-$38,000 to buy a truck. how many small business can afford.
PAP damned tactic, RIGHT POCKET ,PAID LEFT POCKET.

They've started collecting more of your money so they can repackage it and offer it back to you as "bonus" just before the election.

Oh they are making some changes. lastly time they give "bonus" then take back after election..

Now the change new policy.. They take back 1st than give "Bonus" . simple trick but they will still win !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
