Earn $2000 for a month long project.

wait la...not everyone has come online yet since you made this offer

If the sum isn't enough, then I have no problems with someone responding to the challenge to ask for a bit more but if there is no response, negotiations can't even begin.

To be honest, it isn't about traffic which is at levels I'm quite happy about. I could spend $2000 on google adwords and get a much bigger boost in visitor numbers.

What has changed is that the revenue from this site now covers all the overheads with a bit left to spare, I've decided that I might as well share the joy with someone who needs the money more than I do AND is willing to put in the effort to earn it.

I've had two serious applications so far and guess what... they're both from foreigners so you can guess who is hungrier. I can see where this is going.

Those two foreigners can send you their diaries and u will get a more beautiful picture of what is wrong in Sg.

wah sam so you'll only select 1 person to do the job? Well you better say who you want to hire if not ppl will be sending in pics and writing crap for nothing.

I'll select one person based on the quality of the application.

Jobs For Foreigners, Tissue Selling For Our Elderly

8th June 2012

View attachment 5215

While some of us are still struggling to get out of bed, these elderly are already making their first buck of the day. Tissue selling had always been a source of income for the physically handicapped. But recently, it seems that more and more able bodied elderly are joining in the trade.

Ten years ago, these elderly could still earn a living for themselves by taking on menial jobs that many Singaporeans shunned. Today, the story is different. Jobs like cleaners, dishwashers, fast food restaurants crews have all been filled by foreigners. These are the foreigners that our government elevated as talents. It is shocking to know that while the elderly had in some way or another contributed to the progress and building of our country, their rice bowls had to be sacrificed to make way for the government’s wayward immigration policy.

Then there was the argument that Singaporeans are choosy over the wages and working hours of such menial jobs. We recently had one business owner announcing to the whole world that no Singaporeans would take an $800 cleaner job. Let us look at it from another angle. Most of the foreigners send a large portion of their salary back to their home countries while scrimping and saving on their lifestyle here in Singapore. They do not want to stay in Singapore permanently. Singapore is only a place for them to earn their first piece of land or house back in their countries. Secondly, a majority of these foreigners are here alone, without their family, which would mean they only had to spend on themselves here in Singapore. Let’s do not forget that being Singaporeans, our families are here, our commitments are here. Can we afford to scrimp and save like the foreigners?

Let us go back to the topic of these elderly tissue sellers. Captured on the picture are four different elderly selling tissues. The actual number should be six. I had not taken the two physically handicapped into consideration. They would be there all day long. From as early as 6.30am in the morning until 9pm at night. I have traveled to a dozen countries and I have never seen such a scene in any of those countries. We were promised a Swiss standard of living and I really wonder if the old folks in Switzerland had to resort to selling tissue papers when they grow old.

The situation will not grow any better. We will have more and more such tissue sellers in the future. More and more Singaporeans are being sidelined for jobs that they could have performed. We have PMETS who have become technicians, taxi drivers, security guards due to the influx of foreigners. The future certainly bodes well, but not for us, Singaporeans.

Here's a chance to earn $1500 with a bonus $500 thrown in if you do a good job. All you need to do is become a sammyboy reporter for a month. Arm yourself with a camera and go out and look for stories which capture the essence of what is wrong with Singapore society.

Excellent initative. Hope you find your reporter (good quality) soon.

Raiders, I think the typical PAPpie riposte to that is: "Yeah but there will always be winners and losers in every society. Don't forget that 1 in 6 households in Singapore are millionaires."

have u received more applications so far? perhaps u would like to consider a less intensive reporting frequency instead - like 3 reports per week (minimum) for x number of weeks? one whinge a day for 30 consecutive days is a bit taxing for those who are working - unless u're targeting those who are currently unemployed?

i do hope one of the colourful characters in this forum will take this up.

You realize no one has problems with foreigners applying for jobs. The problem is when foreigners apply for the same local-based jobs as Singaporeans and getting it because they were willing to be paid less. In any case, this is a private initiative on your part, which is to be applauded.

Leongsam,

Best to get 3 or 4 quality applicants first, and start with a workload they are comfy with.

30 days continuous reporting is not something a forummer would readily jump into, unless he or she was genuinely out of work.

Get them to develop their own style first and then you can tweak the scheme as you go along. In any case, Raiders has shown his skill, he just needs some coaching on how to display his pics right.

I've decided I want to do my bit to help some down-and-out PMET gal/guy who needs extra cash.

File one story a day for the next 30 days. Each story should be about 500 words in length with 5 images to complement the contents of the article.

Your identity will remain confidential. The only person who'll know who you are is me as I'll need your bank account details to deposit the money.

If this experiment works out, I may extend the contract. If it doesn't, I'll simply consider it to be my one-off contribution to the Singapore economy.

I think simply by writing with photo contents is not enough, as the reporter can simply stay at home and pretend to collate datas from outside. With videos and sound could be better .

I could need some help on the picture part. On some days, my pics would be large, on other days, it would be tiny and weeny despite having almost the same file size.

I have to agree with some of the forummers here. It is not easy to churn out 30 pieces of work in 30 days. A reasonable quota would be 3-4 per week.

It would be even better if a wider topic can be discussed.

Can't Beat A True Blue Oppo

We get enough of that from the shitty times.

Why the change ? Sammyboy not doing well ah ? You mean Temasek Review is faring better and getting more readers ?
