Brit gropes woman and hurls vulgarities at cop

A BRITISH man on a training stint here has been charged with molesting a womanand using vulgar wordson a police officer.
Patrick Cormak Cusack, 39, an engineer, was at a walkway between nightspots Shanghai Dolly and The Beer Market in Clarke Quay around 5.30am on May 1 when he allegedly touched the groin of a 29-year-old woman.
Later, around 6.10am, he used abusive languageon a police officer, Sergeant Nazri Ahmad.
He was in Singaporeon a 21/2-month training stint.
Cusack’s lawyer, Mr S. Radhakrishnan, told the court that he intends to have the molestation charge reduced,The Straits Times reported.
He also wants to have the case compounded with a payment to the victim.
He added that Cusack, a married man with four children, has no criminal record anywhere in the world and that his client’s family will be sending him money to post a personal bond.
The bond is supposed to ensure that he turns up for future court hearings.
If convicted, Cusack faces a jail term of two years, a fine and caning for outraging the modesty of a woman.
For using abusive words against the police officer, Cusack can be fined up to $5,000 and jailed for a year.
