Well sadly this should be the way for all cases that ought to be investigated. Always adhere to a simple set of rules and regulations.
Now the onus is on the CPIB itself to regain it's somewhat tarnished reputation by immediately acting on any reports and information that it receives and forwarding its findings to the Learned AG Chambers for a decision prior to getting the Courts involved.
Allowing the creation of any situation where one case is made to differ from others, because of political considerations, party affiliations, etc.., is a dangerous path to tread and tantamount to creating a situation where people, who have had dealings with corrupt and criminal-minded politicians, may not want to pursue the matter for they have these perception that such case/s will NOT be investigated[/SIZE].
I am sure in the long-run the CPIB will not want to become an impotent department and allow its' good reputation and standing to diminish with the passage of time.
In short, Director CPIB should always act without fear or favour.
Being under the PMO, any other Ministry or even the President's Office, is just for administrative purpose.. Leave it as that.

As regards the recent trip to China (with all the photos of MPs having a gala time and in state of drunkeness and maybe misbehaving in a disorderly manner un-befitting of their status as elected parliamenterians, floating in cyberspace), the matter should immediately be submitted to a convened Board of Inquiry (BOI), that would be tasked to adduce, collect and examine all the evidence for a conclusion.
Queries of how they (MPs) made their way there (China or any part of the world), with whom and on what grounds (including all subsequent or earlier trips) and mode of travel from Singapore and back (was it First Class on Airbus 380, Budget airlines etc...), the hotels that they stayed (5-stars or low standard), the amount of money dispensed for such an "educational" trip ( was it public money or Party's wealth), would all be salient points that ought to be covered by such a BOI.
I am sure the Govt, can get "truly independent" people or "special jurors" to assist in coming to an honest conclusion.
This is what our tottering Nation need desperately so as to once again shine as an example for the leaders of other corrupted regimes to emulate.
