Cause of many NSF deaths: SAF ignored soldiers' medical reports

The Mats up North can aim their big guns at the direction of Oxley Rd for all I care.. I'll will go AWOL if war comes to Sinkie land..:D

Why go AWOL? War time is opportunity to loot the banks and go wild on the bangs.

A true Singaporean can't be saying such a thing. You must be an import!

Wa..Ha..Ha..Ha.. Me an Import..???   Import your head lah.. I have gone thru BMT and Sispec training.. Now already on low key.. You really think all NS men would be willing to die for this cuntry if there's war in Sinkie Land one day..??? if you really think so, then you must be pretty naive.. Who wants to fight a PAP's war..??? Sacrificing our lives to defend the FamiLee, their lackeys and the Foreign thrash they had brought into this country..??? C'mon lah Kinina.. So will you defend this cuntry with your life one day..???

No we don't run road. We control both Singapore and Malaysia and make new road to Thailand. Passport not required.

Many brothers were right to say that our medical needs were overlooked and often mis-interpreted as malingering. I, for one was terrified of reporting sick after a medical officer by the name of Tan Thiam Chye (After so many years, i still remembered the asshole's name) made a wrong judgement of my injury and threathened to charged me as he thought I was faking the pain in my back. The asshole is now practicing in TTSH.

PAP Voter ?

AS A national serviceman with a health worry, I am saddened and concerned by the latest fatal collapse of a full-time national serviceman ('NSF dies after collapsing during training exercise'; Wednesday).
I suffer from a condition called beta thalassemia inherited from my parents. My haemoglobin count is lower than an average person's, and overt physical activity will cause me shortness of breath. I have fainted many times because of my condition.
What concerns me is that when I viewed my medical docket, none of the numerous times I had lost consciousness and been evacuated to the medical centre had been recorded. No incident reports had been filed.
I recall that the medics who attended to me on these occasions noted that I suffered from heat stroke, physical exhaustion or dehydration, when what I really needed was oxygen.
I recently underwent a comprehensive health screening and submitted the report of my blood tests that attested to my condition, but I have had no response from the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
I wish the SAF could be more transparent to national servicemen like me who suffer from a medical condition.

This joker is either a keng king, blur king or complain king. Whether army or police, after recovery and resuming training, those reporting sick or even collapsing incidences are filed away among hundreds of thousands of report sick stacks where nobody could find. These incidences don't qualify as medical history. Only if you're knocked out so severely that you need to be warded to be fully examined the cause and verify the cause. If it happens too often for your comfort, go see a private doctor when you book out to check you out and get your condition certified. Then, ask for medical board.

Sinkee peasants' lives are worth nothing. These fucking MOs will treat all cases as 'Geng' or malingering.

My advice to these SAF "lokuns" (doctors) is this:

You better believe and trust what our children are saying instead of becoming judgemental and calling our young men "malingerers"

Don't you wait for that day when your own beloved son or maybe nephew may have his own life snuffed out.

Retribution............

Please believe in it.

If doctors simply accepted the word of NS men, the SAF might as well close shop.

Let it close shop for all I care.
Our kids are extremely important to us.
You maybe an exception.
You may even be someone here from elsewhere who have not even performed NS.
I rather we have a really powerful and dedicated SAF, then an SAF filled with unwilling and truly-sick people.
Don't wait for a day, when Inquiries will be opened and SAF top men will be treated like the Nazi War criminals.

I hate it whenever those bloody MOs queried on my medical problems only to cynically ask, "sure anot?" KNNBCCB. Presumption of guilt - uniquely Singaporean  Clearly the job scope of a doctor eludes them. "What?! Doctors are supposed to make diagnoses?!" The perennial question creeps up: why are Singaporeans so useless?

I was a company 2IC during my NS days. Whenever one of my men reported sick, I would call up the MO and tell him to not to listen to the cock-and-bull stories of these malingerers. The MO was a good friend of mine.

The MO would then put "malingering" on his report and I'd throw the guy in the guardroom. It was really fun to see the look on their faces when what they thought would be a day off work ended up as 10 days in a cell. :D In fact, it brings tears of mirth to my eyes till this day.

You truly must have been a very powerful 2nd i/c.
You can tell an MO (usually a rank of Cpt) what he ought to do with the "approaching" patient.
An MO that can listen to you, is NOT a proffessional at all.
He (MO) is a total disgrace to the SAF, unfit of the rank he wears and a worthless member of the Singapore Medical Association.
If he takes your words as friend, these is akin to him allowing you to interfere in his proffessional domain.
Leongsam, you MUST be holding the rank of a BG.

Presumption of malingering tendency is necessary if there's to be conscription. Tell me, if today the government declares NS not compulsory, those who wish to enlist put up their hands? How many do you expect?

Sam had been consistent on revelations of his past on rare occasions. Yup! your right! The MO should been thrown into DB. But those were the days...LOL

I was a 2LT at the time. However, because of my appointment, I was frequently acting OC whenever my OC was away on course or on leave.

The MO was a CPT but he and I were friends long before we were enlisted. We were both from the same elite school and played squash together regularly.

He was an excellent doctor and would not have declared a soldier to be malingering if there really was something wrong with him. The fact of the matter was that these damned privates really were malingerers. They'd come up with cock and bull imaginary symptoms like "dizzyness" or "diarrhea" (which could be disproved with a finger up the arsehole). They'd always report sick when they had guard duty or were rostered for something they didn't want to do.

Another character tried a different trick to get out of training altogether. This fucking LCP reported sick and complained about the hot sun causing migraine. Guess what.. I rostered him to take care of all the night training for the next 4 months! He was stunned. 2 weeks later, he declared that his migraines had miraculously disappeared.

NS men are all bloody skivers. Don't get conned by all their bullshit "illnesses".

You were young all right. Took all that risk when the future was waiting for you to become rich and have the time to start a forum. I've seen too many the likes of you in those days. Nothing happened because we were tougher than the generation of today. Sniffing early in the morning with all those sinus problems.!
