They don't add mutton to the gravy to make it rich, the oil from the mutton that
makes this Javanese dish special. Now they use Grago and sweet potato for the gravy.

Singaporeans are really deprived.
In other countries, they have Playboy bunnies, Penthouse magazines, etc
In SG guys go gaga over Tropicana shows, Crazy Horse shows and Neptune performances. Las Vegas topless shows, better than SG Crazy Horse shows are free and plentiful
And SG guys, despite serving 2years NS, cant watch topless shows and get very excited over a pair of bare breasts. This is true deprivation

Tokyu. They were here for awhile. No wonder I never heard of the place. The Le Meridian hotel & neighbourhood has never been popular place. I think the feng shui is bad in that area
There was another small department store located on the 2nd floor of Funan called Tokyo. It was closed down when Funan had one of it's renovations. When I am in Bangkok & visiting MBK mall , there is a Tokyo store there. It may be the same chain![]()
I remember at one time afternoon fashion shows were popular with the guys. They could watch the female models wearing the latest swim wear while having their lunch![]()
Then there were the sabun parties. Heard that the girls & boys would wash each other while they were clothed. Of course someone complained & such parties were banned![]()

Takashimaya and Isetan are still going strong.
Best Denki originated from Yaohan, but its market presence has been largely made smaller by Harvey Norman.
IMM used to have a members-only Japanese supermarket back in the 1980s. You have to be a paying member to shop there.
Going for a massage is the norm there. I used to go during the lunch time & it was quite crowded with businessmen. For those not familiar with the massage places in Jakarta, those places are equipped with shower facilities, sauna, a cold pool, exercise equipment, restaurants...& of course girls![]()
How about Rex and the Jurong drive in theatre??
Queens theatre was renamed Majestic in Chinatown.
