Actually, metal roofing for structures like this are the most efficient.

This is obviously Zincalume steel sheets other trade names goes by Aluzinc and Galvalum. Colored ones by Bluescope or former BHP goes by the trade name Colourbond. Main suppliers in Singapore obviously will be Bluescope Lysaght and LCP or could be smaller ones buying Zincalume coils and rolling themselves.

Galvanised roofs are used extensively in first world NZ and Australia. They are not third world options they are the roof of choice in harsh environments for their longevity and strength.

I will be re-roofing my whole house next year and replacing brittle, cracked and discoloured roof tiles with a beautiful new coloursteel roof.

Do make sure they fasten your new roof with certified Class-4 screws also check the washers used with the screws are from DEKS Industries (Australia), washers with a blue marking like this. No point having a good roof that can last 20 years and Class-4 screws that can last equally long but washers made of PVC, nylon or rubber that degrade quickly from harsh UV. These washers comes with 20 years warranty too http://www.deks.com.au/products/washers/

Yo you are looking for some beautiful skylight or canopy do consider this http://alsynite.co.nz/

Yeah thanks for the info. My builder should do a good job he's my cycling buddy. According to him using the wrong screws can be a disaster because of galvanic corrosion.

Galvanic corrosion is caused by dissimilar metals, some idiots think stainless steel screw is best problem is when used with carbon steel roof it accelerated corrosion on the roofing sheet. Stainless steel screws are used only with roofs made from aluminium, copper, titanium and stainless of course.

BY the way do watch out the sealants being used. Good luck and all the best.

Thanks will keep you up to date.

I use stainless steel screws when I do woodwork. Used to use brass screws but the head often snapped.

The 400 series SS like 410 is good for internal application. For exterior applications like wood decking will require 300 series like SUS 305 or 316, 400 series will have surface corrosion although can brush off but could cause stains to your wood.
