Breaking News : Cabby accused of MP threat

this cabby did wrong as his insinuation carry intimidation. I doubt it's the MP who went to file the police report, probably, the grassroot who is by the side of the MP during the meet pple session. That's why always be careful of these dogs hanging ard PAP.
Can understand how dulan he is when his mum is being summoned by Town Council, he's trying to help his mum but in the wrong way.

His mum deserved to get summoned.

if you threaten ordinary people, it is a civil case..you go find your own lawyer to charge him

if you threaten MP or civil serpents, it's criminal....the state pays for the charging process.

see how fair is this? :D

You're mistaken. Intimidation is criminal case, period. Anyone being intimidated can report police. Police will investigate and prosecute as necessary. Ironically, common assault (e.g. slapping, punching or kicking) is not criminal case (unless there's "grievous" injury inflicted). Police action is to stop the fight only (if it happens in police view). The victim has to go see a magistrate him/herself to seek recourse.

However, physical assault, however slight, on government officials and civil servants in the line of duty, however junior in rank, is criminal case.

WTF! Actual physical assault on peasants is not criminal case, but intimidating a peasant is considered criminal? who came out with this mickey mouse law?

The ex-colonial masters, the British, of course. In Britain, common assault is criminal case (regardless of common public or public servants) but not in most colonies. This was obviously so that colonial aristocrats and officials (and wealthy merchants too) could slap around their servants and subordinates without breaking criminal law. After independence, your dearly beloved government, for some reasons, decided to keep it that way.
