Walked past this place yesterday and there is a closing down sales. WOW!

Are they moving to somewhere cheaper or scaling down operations in rent expensive Singapore?

Also heard a BIG JAP store will be moving completely out of Singapore for good soon.

But GDP figures very good mah. Even better than CHINA....CAn believe ah?.

I wondered which "BIG JAP" store was left in Spore

Then this National Day weekend saw a "Closing Down" sign in front of a BHG store. Are they they store your were refering to

Isetan has been in Singapore since the long ago. BHG is PRC, not Japan.

Currently not many MEGA jap stores left in Singapore. Think harder and you can come out with another 3 household name stores. Out of which 1 is rumoured to be leaving.

I can only think of Isetan (longtime household name in Singapore) and Meidiya (not so longtime and not so household name except for Japanese foods and groceries lovers). Anyway, the vacuum left by Yaohan and Daimaru (for Japanese foods and groceries) have been reasonably (not perfectly of course) by Cold Storage Takashimaya and NTUC Fairprice Junction 8. Hope they keep it up. Otherwise, only Isetan and Meidiya left.
