The wait in Singapore was 2 hours.

The wait in Watford where I was staying at the time was 6 hours.

I also had a suspected fracture about a decade or so ago in NZ which turned out to be nothing more than a bad sprain. I got to the hospital at 9 pm. By the time I was attended to, it was 4:30 am.

Well said. This is the primary cause of overcrowded health systems the world over. Because the system does not charge the top dollar for top notch care, the services are abused by the populace who take advantage of the system.

Exactly the same thing would happen at a Ferrari showroom if Ferraris were being sold at Proton prices. There'd be mile long queues.

it's a privilege to sleep along hospital corridors. you get the attention of all medical staff walking by. air quality is better as you're not confined in a room or ward with stale air flow. when it's time for you to be pushed around, you're already at the hallway ready to go. always look at the bright side.

Well said. Sinkies should learn to appreciate what they have instead of complaining. In some countries, patients are left to die by the side of the road.

In the old days, people were ignorant of their so called "rights". They are a lot more strident these days.

There was special unit in the old PWD at Kallang that handled all the things this man used to complain about. They would also clean up, patch up things etc when he plans to visit a place.

He would have removed the anyone that allowed this. He is 2 examples and he can be. While being driven along Bras Bash Road, he notice the SJI field which was undergoing complete repair was not doing well. It was under the cost of the School. He told PWD to re-do it. The second is a trivial matter but it shows his character.. he noticed a barks of a particular tree cracking someone in Singapore and he called the then NEA to explain why it cracked.

They lived in fear of him. If he saw hospital beds like this, I can assure you that heads will be rolling.

The son inherited the monopoly of power but it hopeless.

If his attention to details for things, that will, or had brought benefits to others & generations to come, it is a blessing!, but, he had became, that domineering, superstitious , picky Old "Peranakan lady"....who, with a slight, will go to the ends of the earth, to bring you down.

This is not unique to Singapore by any means. If you emigrate to OZ or NZ or UK, you will face exactly the same situation.

The problem is not caused by governments. It's caused by members of the public abusing the privileges of the health system.

The difference is the NHS is free. LKY tells us that system, universal healthcare, is no good as there will be a shortage of resources and long waiting times. Now we see the same thing happening in Singapore operating under a free market system. The difference is healthcare under NHS and similar western healthcare systems is accessible to all, nobody will be refused treatment because they cannot pay. While in Singapore, even if you have the money for your treatment, you still have to wait just as long. Surely anyone can see which is the lose-lose system.
