BBC News - New regulations hit Singapore's online press

He is a Cabinet Minister. To most Singaporeans, that gives him the necessary clout to decide what is right and wrong.

When people want to be governed in a certain way (i.e. to have others tell them how to think), then their government will provide that exact method of governance.

Where there is demand, there will be supply.

The electorate is simply too immature and too politically ignorant to understand the implications of all this. It is only the liberal ideologues (who refer to themselves variously as 'civil society' and 'activists') making noise. However, the point is that these 'activists' have totally no influence over the rest of society, not just the 60.1% who voted for the PAP, but the 90%-95% of people who make decisions based on purely bread-and-butter concerns.

The WP seems to have realised this, which is why they have shunned liberal ideology and instead have embraced a brand of politics that can be described as purely municipal in nature.

unfortunately, Choo and his army of online soliders will not let WP get away with that

Oh please, the BBC is a dhimmi leftist liberal progressive news agency that has been accused of dishonest reporting.

The BBC is more impartial than any media organization in Singapore. If it has made errors in its journalist reporting, it will apologize and admit its short comings. Just read about how it was ripped apart and criticized by the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Mediacorp or SPH would never admit their shortcomings in their reporting.

As many of these people have vested interests in a continued PAP rule, or are civil servants themselves, it'll be hard.

good to note that me know of civil servants who never voted for the MIW :):):)

Yaacob Ibrahim interviewed by the BBC states that the MDA regulations are crafted in "the interest of ordinary Singaporeans", to enable them to "read the right thing" when they log on. The BBC presenter goes on to note that Singapore ranks behind Zimbabwe in international press rankings.

I nearly vomited blood when I listened to Yaacob Ibrahim (fast forward to 1:20 minute in the video). Lies and nothing but lies.

Only the fucking pap and their presstitutes report the "the right thngs" hor??

Fucking bunch of fascist dogs!!!

I disagree. How many civil serpents are there at the moment? According to The Straits Times, about 136,000 of them.

not all civil servants are pink IC, quite a good number blue IC you know?

We already are THE laughing stock....this latest move puts us into the hall of game.

CNN receives a letter from Sinkapore's MDA demanding that they register and pay $50k ...you think CNN will chap? The idiots in MDA should slap themselves to wake themselves up.

Your argument is a red herring falllacy. Who's comparing BBC with the local mass media? Does the faults of the local mass media makes BBC no more dishonest and biased?
