Bastard ex MP Louis Ng, who is a non academician and non professional, is appointed as NUS associate professor

Seriously what qualifications does he have to be associate professor? Did he really get with own merit? If not how to stand tall among his colleagues if he got parachuted in.
Dr Jane Goodall is a prominent researcher in primates and she was accepted to Cambridge for a PhD program without prior a bachelor degree and she did awesome research.

What do you think ?
He is not an academician,
Never publish any academic papers,
Non professional
Non technical trained

But he is now an associate professor in NUS.

Do you think his students will respect him or think that he is just a political appointee due to his political background instead of his academic and professional background (such as accountant, lawyer, banker, economist, or engineer)
He is on a non tenure appointment. Meaning he is chosen based on his experience and other professional accomplishments.

Tenure path means have to start off with Phd followed by postgrad, then Asst prof to associate prof path.

can teach how to optimize use of cdc vouchers? i need a uni level lesson on that.

What experience he has ?
Is he a professional accountant, auditor, doctor, engineer, banker , designer ?

She is likely an outlier. So did Louis do an awesome research to warrant a PhD first?
