But when the Govt( and LKY was the PM) started telling us that we were different and started treating us differently but forcing us to be one nation one people, it all began to unravel. This also coincided with the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran.
You have the year right but the cause wrong. It has nothing to do with the 1979 Islamic revolution in Iran. Saudi Arabia and many parts of the Muslim world have been practicing a more "austere" brand of Islam and this has not affected my people.
1979 was the year that the "Speak Mandarin" commenced. Note that the cultural argument for speaking Mandarin was so that the Chinese would maintain their "cultural repository of values and traditions that is identifiable to all Chinese". The other reason was that Mandarin would serve as the lingua franca amongst Chinese in Singapore.
Your Chinese values are founded in your language, culture and traditions. Our Malay values are founded in our religion, culture and religions.
Your Mandarin language are your Chinese tudungs. It has hindered Chinese integration with not only us but the Indians and Eurasians as well. Ask the Indians and Eurasians. I know many Indian and Eurasian friends who have left our Malay land on account of the rise of Chinese chauvinism and SAP Chinese ultras who have convinced themselves that they are now owners of our Malay land.
We will now assert and will, no matter how long it takes, regain ownership of our ancestral Malay land from you Chinese usurpers, chauvinists and ultras.
