You mean the botak old man with ah beng son?
didn't find it much tasty but suppose became institution because he had been there far too long and the only one around
Had been eating from him, then not so old man, with a very young boy, to an old man, with a son & grandchildren. That is from school days to working life, till the Armenian Street coffee shop was closed. His wife used to run a wanton mee stall next to him.
His char kway teow was good, but over the years & when his son took over , wasn't that good, but still ok. Old man(even his son) will give me, my order, even you had ordered yours, 30 minutes ago, 'members' !
I thought that they have retired!
Ate at Armenian Street, when days I spent at the National Library reading, or when USIS & mostly MPH for my browsing of novels or books I would buy, after reading it for some time.
The CKT is not an institution, it is a memory, a tasty memory too!. Forgot to mention the other old man 'ngoh hiang' stall, which was good, till he retired, & I think passed away. His niece took over, but lasted for a short while, the reason was, old man, handmade most of the selections.
Armenian Street would be a memory to many school boys, especially the boys school near there & the convent girls.
