are you trying to ask where is uncle yap now after he posted something silly on sammyboy forum?
Due to my interest in former president Ah Bian's case and my fondness for Taiwan variety programmes, I have been watching quite a lot of Taiwan TV recently.
This is a thread for anything about Taiwan, from entertainment to singers songwriters to food, to places of interest, even to political figures and their antics.

First a question to UncleYap who is always interested in Taiwan politics and to anyone else.
Is there a former and current Taiwan politician that you admire and why?
For me, I can't understand why the Taiwanese don't like president Ma. At least he is not corrupt and doing his best to weed out corruption.

I don't see their parliamentary process as a maturing process.

A man's lifetime is only about 100 years. To cast judgement on something that may take several lifetimes to develop based on a maximum 30 years of observation would be premature. 十年树木, 百年树人 (it takes 10 years to cultivate trees but 100 years to cultivate people). Unless you have a scientific process to defend your conclusion, I don't think you are talking sense.

Side note: with the mass importation of low-class foreigners, this process has been set back a few decades.

Taiwan is a sovereign state.. ROC have its own millitary, President, currency (NTD), flag and
more importantly a democratic system

PRC alway claim that Taiwan belong to them.

Chen Shui Bian really did well in seeking a formal independence for Taiwan.

In short .. Taiwan is never been a part of China at all

Politically, from ROC p.o.v., mainland is part of ROC. It's just that ROC lost 20+ provinces to PRC and is left with one province that's Taiwan.

From PRC p.o.v., having won over 20+ provinces in China, Taiwan is just a province yet to reclaimed.

Taiwan was part of China since Ming Dynasty reclaimed it from the Dutch, it was still so in the Qing Dynasty until conceded to Japan towards the end of the dynasty. ROC (as whole of China) reclaimed Taiwan in 1945 after WW2. Between 1945 to 1949 China was in civil war with ROC versus CCP. By 1949, ROC was in total defeat except hanging on to Taiwan. CCP declared China as PRC. US Navy 7th Fleet blockaded the Taiwan Straits to save ROC their last foothold. Should Taiwan be part of China, you figure.

Have you heard of the latest developments regarding the allegations that Frank Hsieh took money from the Investigative Bureau in the 1980s?
What's your opinion about this?

Taiwanese youth are useless. Don't get misguided by big brand names like ACER and ASUS. Most youngters are 'butter boys'. One of the posters above is quite right. Taiwanese look up to Japan and US. The butter boys are soft like candy, but they're being sold as 'handsome'. Girls are all after butter boys. No thanks to F4 and Farenheit boys.

Just wondering, are Japanese and Korean youths as soft?

Stacking the youths from SE Asia and NE Asia, which countries have the toughest or softest youths?

Not all girls are after butter boys. I am not into that for one. But they don't make men like they used to. It's a common problem all over the world. I think it's a G-conspiracy. They put the guys they like up front and girls are like lemmings. They have the hots for whatever's put out.

Most of these guys look horrible if they don't have some fancy schmanzy hairstyle.

Ah Bian's son's was accused by a famous Taiwanese magazine of picking up a social escort in his car and bringing her to a motel near his home to do the business.
He has flatly denied this and has challenged the WL to come up and point out the "peculiarities" on his body. He has also cooked up a story that he lent the car to a friend who in turn lent it to his friend, who apparently is quite well known in the financial circles and looks and sounds like Ah Bian's son.
The Taiwanese talk shows are now talking about this story, with the male "famous mouths" telling all about how such social escort agencies work and then claiming that it's what they have learnt from their reporting days or from investigations.

What's wrong with that? Is he holding public office?

He's running for Kaoshiung county councilman position at the year end elections and he's married with a daughter.
Some people say that it's still between him and his wife, but others are saying that he's making it a habit of lying to the public.

Isn't that a prerequisite for Taiwanese politcians or wannabes?

Just watched an episode of Guess Guess Guess.
It's a pity that Ah Ya has resigned from the show and Jacky will also be leaving the show.
Despite what many people say about Jacky, I find him really funny, even though a lot of his funny stunts are bordering on the absurd. He just really lets go whenever he hosts, and that could be what make him ridiculously funny.
Don't think that Harlem and Selena taking over as hosts is a good idea. Harlem would be classified as a comedian if he hosts this show, he would be more suited to music related shows. Selena is not a strong host, she is a good sidekick but doesn't have the experience to be a top host yet.

You should consult Sammyboy's Correspondent in Taiwan - QSD.

Apart from Guess, Guess, Guess, Jacky's current slots include one with Patty Hou; and another with 2 members of ex 5566 + 1 member from Fahrenheit.

Harlem is a lousy host. Zero humour.

I was about to discuss that Harlem is a good host of the music variety show "Million Dollar Singer", but didn't want to start a discussion on what constitutes "good music" with you again.

Btw, since you are so familiar with Taiwan, what have you heard or know about Ah Bian's son's case involving the alledged social escort?

I like the Caesar place in Taipei. First go and take communal shower, all men are naked there, take small tub and water scoop, bath there. Then go to room and the hostess will give good service

You mean at Asiaworld?

If you liked it there, you should go to Macau's saunas, even though we are clearly in the wrong forum.

In short .. Taiwan is never been a part of China at all

If you start from Kingdom of Middag, then yes, Taiwan is never part of China.

If you start from Kingdom of Tungning, then no, the founder of the Kingdom of Tungning is a Ming Dynasty loyalist and by that Taiwan was part of China from 1600 century.

Actually, that was few years back, I'm sure the place name is Caesa, maybe it has changed names to Asiaworld.

The facilities/setup there is impressive, if SG has one like them, it will be the best legal FK shop in South East Asia.

He claimed that he could prove that he was at home at the time, and he was prepared to produce the CCTV of his condo tower. He then turned around to say that the CCTV wasn't working at that time. Hahaha.

Now he has challenged the WL to come forward and speak to him before the media.

I'm not familiar with Taiwan. I'm in Taiwan.

He wanted the WL to point out the "peculiarities" in his body, didn't he? Hahaha.
The talkshows had a field day mocking him, with even one lady saying that the WL could probably only remember whether he was long or short.

Btw, being in Taiwan doesn't mean you are familiar and of course the converse is true as well.
Why are you in Taiwan? Working there? Married to Taiwanese? Running a business? Enjoy the lifestyle there?
