Anyone knows what happen to the AEC - Asean Economic Community?

Several weeks ago, I recall spotting an ad in the newspapers. AEC hiring economists. I submitted my application and am waiting for their reply. My LSE degree should secure the job. Tharman was my course mate.

For an economic community to work, all sides must capabilities to offer the other - technology, capital, resources, expertise etc.

Most Asean countries are Banana republics or Tapioca kingdoms with only cheap labour to export... while the valuable national resources are owned by the rich corrupted fat cats....

Now tell me... how are things ever going to move?

...economic community is bound to fail... most of these countries can't even get their own house in order, what kind of international collaboration would there be?...so far is the military alliance with USA

I always seen ASEAN akin to old uncles of different nationalities chit chatting in a coffee shop. To achieve the EU style of integration is difficult due to non homogeneous nature of ASEAN.
