It seems Singtel have launched their Fibre Broadband. Have anyone subscribed yet.
ST is only having 100mbps at 85 ++. M1 is having cheaper plan.... I oso dunno why. Tot of recontract with ST. Maybe Xmas or New year got promo....
They have download speed of 200 mbps, upload 100 mbps and international 15 to 25 mbps. I do not know what it means. Isn't this the same as their current plans. Something just not right with this. Correct me is I am wrong.
This is true.....whatever speed those telcos promised also is bullshit.
my plan is 12mbps, starhub say 'free' upgrade to 20mbps. on a lucky day, i can get 10 to 12 mbps. sometimes even drop below 10.
never ever seen 20mbps whenever i do speedtest. not even once.![]()
Dey, beli technical le, can use layman term?Broadband speed talk has more or less becomes an illusion to the average home user. Telco Company are trying very hard to sell you something that you don't really need.
For example. With 8mbps broadband, you can download 5 standard movies in avi format or 1 dvd format movie in an hour. In one day you can download and watch 24 full length dvd format movies!
So, why do you need higher speed, did you intend to sell the unused speed to your neighbors?
Chances are, if you experience slow response, it is highly unlikely due to the speed of your broadband if you are having 2 mbps or more. The problems are elsewhere. It is no secret our ISP international trunk have a limited outgoing and incoming submarine cables or satellite links. So they are heavily reliant on their farm of proxies/cache server to create that illusion.
This is true.....

By upgrading our Island network infrastructure to fiber won't help you one single bit if you access International site like this forum.
Meaning you get faster speed for local contents but slower on overseas contents?
