Any Samsters from OCS before? Is our local OCS passing out parade similar to this?

I was commissioned in 1977, and their Passing Out Parade is very similar.
They are given the British "Wilkinson Sword".
The Best Cadet in the SAF is awarded the Sword of Honour, which is a Wilkinson.
(I have one from the SAF, not like the current black, but silver or stainless steel colour, and I also have a Wilkinson, left at my parents' home).
More recently, the SAF introduced the Sword of Merit.

for a period saf ceremonial swords were made in thailand, and only the sword of honor was wilkinson. everybody else got the thinner longer blade.
I am not sure where it was made.
The cadet who was awarded the Sword of Honour, do not get to keep it. It is returned to OCS.
The current swords are not the same mine.

wilkinson swords then were made in the uk. saf has already phased out the thigh oops thai made blade. current blade may be made in china.
I am aware that the Wilkinson was made in the UK.
Whenever I visit my mother, I will clean it and oil it.

You earned the swords as Best Cadet, or did you buy them from Sungei Rd?
I do not know whether or not a Wilkinson sword is available for sale there.
I was not the Best Cadet.

Why didn't you sign on? Who knows, you'll be heading some Stat Board now. Or maybe in Parleement.
I considered it, at that time.
But I know that I would not go far in the SAF or statutory board.
During my time, almost all of the scholarships indicated a requirement of 3 As. But I heard that in recent times, there are hundreds of students with 4 As at A levels.
Although I had only one A and two Bs, I did apply for a very low level and obscure scholarship, and was very fortunate to be one of four recepients.
During the interview, I asked the panel of three individuals, why they selected me for an interview when I did not have 3 As. One of them responded "Why did you apply?" I said that if I did not apply, I would not be there for the interview, and therefore, if I did not try, I would not be considered.

Look at Israel , their so called parade uniform is just a smart version of the combat uniform, which the SAF followed during the Temasek Green days.
In the IDF only Senior officers and those officers participating in ceremonies overseas get what is a No 1/No 2 equivalent.
