An early morning jog for a Punggol resident last month turned into a frightening experience when he was attacked by a pack of about nine dogs.

The attack on Mr Chow Cheok Kai, 35, a bank executive, on Dec 19 came five days after a female jogger was similarly bitten at the Punggol Waterways area.

Since the two attacks, there have been four other reports of people being chased by stray dogs but "narrowly escaping injury", said a spokesman for the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA).

Such attacks are the reason AVA has stepped up measures to round up strays in the area, angering some animal lovers, especially those who feed stray dogs.

More in The New Paper on Wednesday (Jan 11).

Speaking of stray dogs, has anyone seen clinton666 lately?

if the strays can let others feed that means not so aggressive....then how come this loser kena attack?

So which CEO or Minister has to come out to apologise now?

Thailand is a Land of Smiles. Is Singapore a land of apologies? free apologies.

I wonder who gave me negative points for spam. My post was not a spam but merely a tongue in cheek remark about the recent spates of apologies from this govt.

What an idiot for not knowing the difference!

Dogs have good sense of smell. They just cannot tahan the Sinkie stench.

But I love their delicious fragrance when cooked. Any more dog lovers here? Want to organize a pinic @ Ponggol?

lianbeng wonders if AVA's feeding those stray dogs with human meat?

hi there

1. tsk tsk tsk!
2. useless ava.
3. it should have approached ah ram.
4. those dogs are just no match to ram.
5. beaten barehand & thereafter eaten!

Those dogs there, seems to have rusty teeth, this victim was sent for TT jabs.:D In order to get rid of the dogs, fast, once & for all, feed them with food that make their mouth foaming white, then som resident notices , call AVA.

Never mind the animals right groups!

sorry to know that. I know sometimes such incidences are cause of embarrassment and anger.
I'm sorry but I'm getting emotional. My little chow(beagle) was attacked by wandering dogs. He
got injured badly and I've no idea about the assassination of such Roguish.

Ok, I got the point and nothing have something special to say but let me append.
Actually, wandering dogs are all time problem. They attack on anyone and can injured. But the public
cannot take directly steps. This is the responsibility of the official authorities that should take steps for it.

Agree. The dogs there are fierce. When they chase you, they are like cheetahs on fire. :o

What's the big deal, we citizens are attacked by pee-a-pee running dogs everyday till we bleed.
