STOMPer Gao_Luck was utterly disappointed with his recent shopping experience at Carrefour Hypermart Bakeries. Gao_Luck said that baby roaches were crawling on the shelves of the bakery and the day-old croissant which he bought had turned mouldy.

The self-proclaim avid fan of Carrefour wrote in his email:

"I noticed that there wasn't any late night discounts for unsold pastries and the discount will only be given out the day after if it remained unsold.

"This wasn't the case last time. All breads and pastries were on offer the same night and wasn't re-sold the following day even though it is fit for consumption within three days. Is freshness no longer the main concern under Carrefour management?

"Also, a few weeks ago, I encountered my first bad experience at Carrefour, Plaza Singapura. I bought a box of peach croissant which was baked the day before (the bake date was stated on the box), however, after having a few bites the following day of the purchas, I noticed that there's mould in the pastry. How can this be when the consumption period is supposed to be within three days.

"I believe that the mould is caused by moisture from the melting sugar on top of the pastry. But I wonder should pastries that spoil easily be sold again the following day?

"I had a second bad experience at Carrefour, Suntec City, yesterday (Jul 14). I saw baby cockroaches crawling on the bakery shelves. One of the roaches even crawled into a box containing the pastries. I was totally disgusted!

"How many of these cockroaches have been hiding within the shelves? After these two bad experiences, I am now thinking of switching to other bakeries."

NEA : You can't expect everywhere no cockroach. Anyway, we're busy catching opposition illegal hawkers now. Carrefour is a legally licensed supermarket.
