Why so strong? They have new ZEN CPU architecture and new external scale: 16 memory channels for 2 socket CPUs or 8 memory channels for 1 socket CPUs, 8 to 32 CORES, 16 to 64 threads.
Integer computing is 48% higher than top Intel CPU.
Floating point computing is 75% higher than top Intel CPU.
Memory & I/O performance is higher than top Intel Solution by 2.4X because of 16 channel memory and 128s way PCI I/O lines. This is just eating Intel up by brute size.
They integrate with their own ATI core GPUs to deliver super strong data center combination, that are out performing Intel by many times.
