Aljunied GRC to be splitted ....

From a broader perspective, the main battleground for the next GE should be the cluster of Aljunied, East Coast, Tampines, Jalan Besar and Bishan-Toa Payoh GRCs, a cluster that includes the two opposition held SMCs. In GE 2006, WP had averaged around 40% over Aljunied and EC, NSP has averaged around 30% over Tampines and JB. Chiam See Tong has announced his interest in B-TP for the next GE.

How they remap this cluster would be interesting. The GRCs surrounding this cluster, Tanjong Pagar, Ang Mo Kio, Marine Parade and Punggol-Pasir Ris are all super-six GRCs considered surely safe whether contested or not. They could shed some divisions to facilitate the optimal remapping of the hot cluster.

Do you think they will revive, Cheng San & Braddell Heights?, to spread the 'butter'..

Will they try to bet, by placing georgie to contest HG, for its Catholic & also teochew base, don't forget this area was the strongold of the PAP until the last MP retired & Punggol as a district was disbanded.

The past PAP candidates were of unknowns, "yes men", starting with, Tang Guan Seng, Heng chee How, and now Low Saik Meng.

You think, they would want to make a bet!!

Hougang no longer a Teochew stronghold. I admit there are many teochews here but no as many as 20years ago. There a bunch of cantonese in HG ave 5 near block 305-314, suspect from the HK b4 the 97 handover. There also a influx of other dialect groups over the years.

As for other in Aljunied GRC, HG ave 8 and central, these are mostly hokkien from ppl who were relocated from jalan kayu. Like the teochew who were relocated from punggol, these hokkiens have a grudge against pap for forcing them from their lands for a pittance in compensation. These ppl dont really care for policies, all they want is to knock pap from the perch. So these area is a permant 40% anti pap voters. So all APs have to do win over the 11% of the fence sitters.

ahemmm...... Grammatical corrections......... it should be "to be SPLIT" (present tense) not "to be SPLITTED" (past tense)......

there is no word as SPLITTED la. the word SPLIT is is present, past, future, perfect tense liao.

to be split= FUTURE TENSE

so you correct him rightly but the idea is wrong.

Seriously, it is pretty hard to vote for someone who cannot differentiate 'specify' and 'specific'.

How to debate the English speaking FAP in parliament?

Get him to sort out whether it's mandate to power or power to mandate first.

In some way, it is still a teochew enclave, with the church of th Nativity as the connection point...

You are right on the Hokkien speaking people, Cantonese, I really do not know...that is an eye opener.. Cantonese people are much more business minded...& food also...maybe Ass Loon can throw in some mee siam with the hum or 'fatt till cheong, with sharkfin soup double boiled!...might sway around 11%...:D please don't send the wooden puppet.... ha ha ha ha ha

God would have answered my prayers then. Thank you, GOD.

What about this scenario? A new Serangoon GRC created along Serangoon station (now under Aljunied) to Little India station (now under Tanjong Pagar). It'd absorb Potong Pasir SMC along the way too. Though under opposition now, ED has all rights to do it, especially now with a perfectly logical reason - PP population has become too small to justify a SMC by itself.

the catholic church are attended by the well off. not many wretched peasants in their midst. The conregation will not want to rock the boat and can consider as safe vote for pap. consist mainly of middle aged and old folks, not the type of ppl that will vote for APs.

split, so those nearer to geyland shall be 1 faction, those nearer to serangoon gardens another faction? i think they're just playing with fire, the more factions they split, means more opportunity for the oppositions to pick at.
