Tan Kin Lian Cheekily Asks If Goh Chok Tong "Lost His Way" When He Doesn't Attend School Gathering
mustsharenews.com

Tan Kin Lian, former Chief Executive Officer of NTUC Income and presidential candidate, is also an alumni of Raffles Institution (RI).

Tan Cheng Bock and Goh Chok Tong, are also Old Rafflesians, and recently they appeared to have a falling out over the fomer’s decision to form opposition party, the Progress Singapore Party (PSP). The latter said the PSP leader had “lost his way”.

GCT not present at Rafflesian gathering

Judging from a Facebook post on 8 Aug, TKL seems to have picked a side in this spat.

While attending a gathering of RI alumni, he noticed that the Emeritus Senior Minister was not present, while Tan Cheng Bock was:

Playing on the ongoing dispute between the two ex-classmates, TKL decides to poke a bit of fun, suggesting that Goh had, wait for it:

“Lost his way”.

In case you needed a reminder of why he used that quote in particular, here’s Goh Chok Tong’s post on Tan Cheng Bock on 4 Aug.

Now that’s a spicy meatball of a post: timely, yet relevant.

Tan alliance

Both Tans have previously contested at the 2011 Presidential Election and have been cordial since, as they both expressed dissatisfaction with some of PAP’s policies and TKL has been seen on Facebook supporting the other Tan.
Although previously attacked by Dr Tan’s supporters for “taking votes away” during that election, Tan Kin Lian appears friendly with the doctor, as he alludes to in the comments on his post:

As the saying goes, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, and Tan Kin Lian is no stranger to expressing his views on the PAP.

Real reason for missing event unclear

We don’t know why Goh Chok Tong did not attend the gathering. Perhaps he had another more important commitment.

It would be easy to say that he did not attend because Tan Cheng Bock would be there, but we can’t know this.
But the question remains: did Goh Chok Tong miss the event because he “lost his way”?

Maybe the Marine Parade MP will address this at some point. We’ll let you know if or when he does. For now, watch this space.

I am sure Dr Tan Cheng Bock's presence is the reason, if not the single most important reason or excuse for not being there. He is just a balless tinpot despot firing from the comfort of his study room.

An old Rafflesian friend, colleague or classmate decides to disagree and form a political party, and you say he lost his way, I find it strange. For me, I would wish him well even if I do not agree with what's he's doing. It shows that he cannot accept others with a different opinion from him and reflect his narrow mindedness and pettiness.
