Who is Keith Morton?
He is a Eurasian chap in his 60s.. A retired ASP with the Prisons Dept with more than 25 years of service..Tall, and good looking, he still looks fit even though his hair is now thinning.. Heard he divorced his first wife few years back and remarried a younger woman..
He was also a member of the so called elite Prison Unit called SAPU which is now known by its present name SPEAR.. He was popular with his fellow SPEAR troopers under his charge and soon he was given command of the unit.
When he was in charge of SPEAR, Malaysia Kelings who were already in the Prisons Dept as ordinary lowly Junior Prison wardens were lining up to join the unit due to the glamour attached to being part of an elite force..
Frankly speaking, SPEAR is just a self masturbation unit set up by MHA to give the Prisons Dept a more acceptable image so that it could attract more people to join the organisation.. But law enforcement officers in S'pore know that SPEAR is just the poor cousin to the more established Police STAR Unit.. In the 90s and early 2000s during MHA held shooting competition, SPEAR would finish last behind STAR, Gurkha Contingent and the SOC.. :o

Soon many Malaysian Kelings passed the selection process and were selected as SPEAR Troopers..Under Morton's command, the Unit now is infested with these Yaya Malaysian Kelings who are now proud owners of the SPEAR maroon coloured berets..
If you are in a hospital and see any SPEAR officer with Keling genes escorting a prison inmate, there's a 100 percent chance, that officer is a Keling from Kedah or Perak..
And the same situation if you're drinking in any pub in Changi Village and there is a group of Kelings drinking besides your table, that group could be the SPEAR boys unwinding down after completing their duties..
No matter how those Malaysia Kelings tried to behave and act like S'poreans, you just can't ignore the occasional Malay conversation among themselves..
