actually the petrol price between Ron 95 and 97 are getting closer since they are cutting petrol subsidy...
The facts regarding the 3/4 tank rule and massive price differentials across our borders only tempts Singaporeans to break the law.
Such mundane yet (relatively) small profits gained by Singapore commuters turn them from good citizens into "bad" citizens. Many such commuters think nothing of exiting the country with less than 3/4 tank, some even going beyond that with gadgets that showed a full tank when it is actually empty. They risk being caught bringing into the country, cigarettes and pirated DVD's and porn bought in Malaysia. For that few dollars more they may gained, the risk of being caught red-handed is always there under the watchful eyes of the Singapore customs.
Pity the common man who live under this climate of fear which is a similar experience to those who live in North Korea albeit for different reasons. However, the fear is still the same, one because of government's greed, the other because of ideology.

There are some similarities, both the leaders and countries.
The cost of land in SG is at least 5x the cost of land in JB... hence the cost of operating a petrol kiosk is SG is a lot higher than in JB. I dont think it makes sense for petrol to be equally priced between the 2 countries even without subsidy. Papsmearer has never driven to JB judging by the nonsense he wrote.
Ron 97 now at RM2.80/litre = around S$1.10. Do the maths. Still damn cheap & you can feel the power in your car.

No need to illegal smuggle cigarettes, porn, etc. Nowadays rice, cooking oil, confectionary, sugar. etc. half price or less in JB. Big savings there.
It's an open secret but if Singapore wanted to check every car, it is not possible without bringing the traffic to a halt. My friend has been doing this for years without ever getting caught. Sugar is not cheap in Malaysia but most medicines and health supplements are far cheaper.

Only four motorists were nabbed for fuel-gauge offences last year, down from 17 in 2012 and 14 in 2011, said Singapore Customs in its annual statistics report out on Thursday.
The agency attributed the drop in the number of offenders to a rise in awareness about the penalties that the offence attracts for those who flout the three-quarter-tank rule.
Singapore-registered motor vehicles departing Singapore via land checkpoints must have at least three-quarter tank full of motor fuel in the supply tank - this includes petrol-CNG vehicles.
If a motor vehicle does not meet the rule, the driver can be prosecuted in court and fined up to $500. If the fuel gauge of the motor vehicle has been found to be tampered with, the driver will also be charged in court for illegal alteration of the fuel-measuring equipment and if convicted, liable to a fine not more than $5,000 and/or jailed for not more than 12 months.
Can see the custom officers are very lax when it comes to enforcing the 3/4 checks. They are so lax even some mental woman can just breach the checkpoint. So what is 3/4 check to them. just spend the whole duty time daydreaming and talking shit.

Whole of 2013 only catch 4 offenders. Meaning every 3 months catch 1. How many cars passed through the customs in 1 whole year? Must be millions. Only catch 4?
Have to do the maths lah. If you look at a car like a Honda Civic, it has a 50 litre fuel tank. If you cross to JB with 1/3 tank instead of required 2/3, than can fill up about 34 litres. Price of Ron 97 in JB is RM$2.7 or about SGD$1.05. Price of similar petrol in Singapore is about SGD$2.30. Difference is $1.25 X 34 litres = $42.50. If you go over to JB 30 times a year, that's $42.50 X 30 = $1275 in fuel savings each year. Maximum fine if you get caught is $500. If you get caught once a year, and kenna a fine of $500 or smaller, you are still ahead of the game.

The medical stuff are a lot cheaper. Their car wash is RM 8. Complete with exterior wash and Tyre shinning and interior vacuming .
Here in Singapore, it cost you $15 just to have your car washed with interior vacum but not nicely done. Sometimes you got to pity that AH LAO who is wiping and cleaning your car in Singapore's searing heat.
The Satay there is cheaper RM 0.60 for mutton satay and AYAM ! It sweet smelling aroma will make you ask for more. Singapore's satay is atrocious ! Small and not aromatic at all and it cost sgd 0.60.
My mudlaysia gal friend ask me why i like JB so much. I ask them why they like Singapore so much. We both laugh. They like Malaysia more then Singapore, of course. For me, i tell them i like Mudlaysia and the people there.

Doctors in Malaysia charges only RM$370(SIN$148) for a 3 hour session of Intravenous chelation. In Spore it's hard to find a doctor who is willing to do the procedure because of medical politics. If you are lucky enough to find a doctor willing to do, it will cost almost $300.
