Becoming a breakout star after Stars Academy <聲夢傳奇>, Chantel Yiu (姚焯菲) is one of TVB’s most promising young talents. However, the 15-year-old was caught in a controversy, after her alleged intimate video and photos surfaced online on June 23. The case is now contested in court.

Hailed as “Nation’s First Love” due to her cute and sweet image, Chantel had stated that her main focus is school and her music career. However, keen-eyed fans noticed that Chantel has been frequently spending time with a mysterious male friend named Marcus Kwok. Going to a theme park recently, Chantel uploaded a solo photo of herself, but some netizens noticed a male figure in the reflection.

Photos of the couple’s intimate photos allegedly circulated online, and Marcus hinted that the photos may have been leaked by someone in their circle. “You can’t trust anyone,” he had posted online.

TVB manager Virginia Lok (樂易玲) met with Chantel’s parents and consulted with a lawyer over the issue. Ms. Lok noted that a full-investigation will take place to find out who was behind the malicious posts targeting Chantel. On June 30, TVB also issued a statement that the videos in questions were defamatory and false in nature.

As Chantel’s father, Mr. Yiu, has applied to the Hong Kong High Court to start a civil lawsuit over the incident, no further details have been revealed as the case has entered the judicial process.
