Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore (APBS), the manufacturer of homegrown brand Tiger Beer, will progressively stop manufacturing in Tuas, and 130 employees will be affected over the next two years.

In a Mar. 24 statement by Heineken, the company said: "Large-scale brewing at the Tuas brewery will be phased down progressively by the end of 2027 to support a more agile regional supply approach."

"Over time, the Tuas site will be redeveloped to support regional logistics and include a pilot brewery for innovation," the statement added.

APBS is a wholly owned subsidiary of Heineken.

Import-based supply model

In a separate statement to the media, the company added that Heineken will shift to an import-based supply model supported by its breweries across the region.

Large-scale production will be relocated to established regional breweries in Malaysia and Vietnam, it was revealed.

"Imported beers are already a significant part of the Singapore market, accounting for around half of beer consumed. Malaysia, Vietnam and China are among the top source markets. Operational changes in Singapore will be implemented progressively," the statement said.

In Singapore, APBS will focus on regional commercial operations, demand planning, packaging adaptation, export-market services and innovation support.

Tiger Beer will still be manufactured

The move is part of Heineken's EverGreen 2030 strategy, which will see Singapore’s role as a base for regional commercial operations, logistics, innovation and GenAI-enabled capabilities maintained and deepened, the statement said.

Tiger Beer, which was founded in Singapore, will continue to be built and shaped in the country for consumers worldwide, the statement added.

APBS has informed the relevant government agencies and is working with the Food and Drink Allied Workers Union, a National Trades Union Congress-affiliated union, to provide support to affected employees.

These measures include severance support aligned with tenure, outplacement support to help with job search and career transitions, reskilling and upskilling with NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), and providing counselling and well-being resources.

Everything on Sinkieland can be sold to the highest bidder. Refer to NOL and Chartered Semiconductor.

Notable exceptions are SIA and SPH: SIA for vanity ('national pride'), SPH for propaganda value.

In August 2012, Fraser & Neave accepted an offer from Heineken to acquire its stake in APB for US$4.1 billion. Shareholders approved the deal during the extraordinary general meeting held on September 28, 2012.

In 2013, APB merged with the original incarnation of Heineken Asia Pacific and was renamed Heineken Asia Pacific to reflect its role as Heineken's regional hub.

Factory worker pay very low. Just outsource this job to lower income nation..

HR and IT whole departments in many MNCs here already outsourced to low income nations

What happened ? APB used to give out 9 months year end bonus in the 1980s

TS is not exactly correct.
The majority of staff retrenched are from across the 2nd link from JB.
So not many Sinkies are involved.
Just a few managers/supervisors.

ApB 's. Perks of past :
  • Perks: Beyond cash, the company is famous for its unique "Tiger Tavern" on-site, where employees enjoy free beer, along with comprehensive wellness benefits, flexible work arrangements, and "flexi-allowances" for personal growth.

Nothing is sacred in SG. Raffles Hotel own by Qatari government. Senoko Power own by a jap consortium. 38 Oxley Rd can be sold too, at the right price.

For a price, you can get a second shitizenship. Don’t worry about patriotism and loyalty, you already being replaced by Tiongs, Cecas and Pinoys. Maju-lan Stinkapura!
