I used to live in a high floor block from which I could directly see the Bright Hill and during Cheng Meng the column of smoke rise from there unmistakeably.
Bright Hill areas were worst for air pollution complaints to SPF and NEA, with a monastery and nunnery both running cremation servives in the past. Now cremation has been banned there and all shifted to Mandai. But burning other ritual stuff is still allowed. Bright Hill monastery was also notorious for keeping dogs barking causing noise pollution. My PA buddy posted to B Div. sometimes stole one and called me to enjoy a good breakfastl together after night shift.
