West Coast USA is good value from the entertainment pov with Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe ( winter ), Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. Scenic places would include the Grand Canyon.
East Coast USA has lots of history value and good scenery too.
In case the earthquake happens while you are there :

2. Stay away from windows, shelves, walls and any other furniture or fixtures that could fall on you and hurt you eg overhead lights.
