What do you guys think of their customer services and their service style?

I am thinking of opening a bank account with them.

They are ok, I've been with them for about 10 years at least now. At least their counter is not as crowded as the big 4. Free ATM withdrawal from westpac. They also provide mandarin languages at their ATM. Most Asians seem to go with them because of this.

Thank you Ash,

then i will open an account with them and close all my DBS accounts.

They have an account where you can transfer SGD to an AUD account and withdraw from it while in Australia.

Good for parents sending money to their kids studying, practically seamless and no time wasted like a normal TT.

But for migrants to Oz, I'd be careful of the tax implications, especially could create an open backdoor for ATO to go snooping.

Never bank with them anymore.....they screw up my safe deposit box a few years ago.
Fucking bank attitude like fuck

I thought Traditionally they are the best in this field, way back to the days when the Planters were around? Trustee Services, which include Safe Deposit Boxes. You mean they did a "DBS Bank Fiasco" in Hong Kong?

They have never been good in their consumer banking. Just average and they are quite dated in their IT. Very "conservative" in the way they do things so their procedures are more cumbersome and they could be asking for more documentation from you than other banks.

Yes, similar to DBS fiasco....safe deposit box removed without warning....items came back in a box without explanation. My family and I cancelled whatever accounts we had with them soon after that....

Before you open an account with them, try calling their customer service hotline to try to speak to their customer service officer. Fucking vomit blood. I wonder which idiot came up with that phone system.

Their customer service is nothing to shout about, no better or worse than other banks.

One advantage of banking with them is that they have branches and atms in many countries in the world.
They are present in Europe, Middle East, Asia, including HK and China.
If you have a premier account in your home country, you are considered a premier customer in the other countries where you have accounts as well, even if your bank balance does not meet the requirement in these other countries.

Once (in the early 90s) I walked into HSBC in HK, wanted to change $, they charge 10% for any services.
They asked If I have an account, I said No, but I have HSBC credit card and they waived it.

Back when I had an account with them decades ago, they still had limited banking hours. Every time I want to visit their branches, they were closed. Same problem with Standard Charter. However heard that Standard Charter has better hours. Don't know about HSBC:confused:

I doubt so, there is usually a letter to you, if they want to remove the boxes, maybe you missed that. In the event that you or representative did not turn up, the box is removed or open in the presence of two bank officers, who will view the contents, list it, type it out & signed & the contents will be sealed again in whatever containers with a seal, that is wax.

You sure, they just take it out without informing you & well might that be, Hong Kong?;)

They claimed they sent....but not even registered mail.
There were many similar cases like mine that time and there was a big hooha.
Anyway from this incident saw their fucked up attitude and took my business elsewhere.

You and I are No Net Worth customers lah, that's why so troublesome. I forgot that Sammyboy forum has more millionaires than other forums. No wonder the customer service given to them is so good.

Scenario 1
KNNBCCB: hello, I want to cancel my credit card.

HSBC CSO: (cursing in his heart: Cb lah, spend $899 a year only, cancel sua) orh....

Scenario 2

Boss Sam: hello, I want to cancel my credit card

HSBC Relationship Manager: Sir, would you reconsider if we waive off your annual fees

Boss Sam: nah, stand chart waived off my charges and gave me a new mountain bike

HSBC Relationship Manager: What if we replace the bicycle seat with a year long supply of dildo?

Boss Sam:

lol :D.... that HSBC i only use less than $100 in 3 years...

just keep for back up... but sien every year need to call to waive off...so cancel it... :D

I use citibank the most... customer service always fast and efficient...

Back then to open ordinary savings account in foreign banks like HSBC, Chase Manhattan and the likes....minimum is $10k....
Now with foreign banks offering unsecured credit....no money also can open an account.
