Which is the best public hospital in Singapore? Even if you think that all of them are lousy, which is the best of the rotten? For me, I will have to give my vote to SGH due to 2 personal experience.
1. Some years ago, I accompanied my then gf to see a orthopedic at SGH and a doctor was assigned to her. The doctor was a newbie and could not pinpoint the problem. The head of orthopedic was making his round that day and he saw our problem. He simply came up, pressed his fingers against a point near to her shoulder and she began to scream in pain. I guess this comes with experience.
2. My grandma was warded at TTSH few weeks ago and they couldn't find out what was wrong with her and discharged her. 1 week later, she had the same problem of breathlessness and heart pain and chose to go to SGH. It was there that they diagnose her to have fluid near the heart and there was a problem with one of the artery. The doctor suggested surgery but we were hesitant because of her old age and the risks was high. The next day, she suffered a sudden bout of pain and was whisked in for emergency operation. That operation saved her life and I was really impressed with the young surgeon. He came out with a pale face and he could not stand properly. That 8 hours of operation must have really drained him out.
I remembered reading in this forum that LKY sent his wife to SGH last time when she was sick. Why is SGH preferred? Any insider stories?
