I'm not sure if you have mentioned in other threads, but I'm pretty curious how a Singaporean ended up in Japan.

Which hotel you stay in Japan? Got french man as manager one:)

Mercure Hotel Sapporo at Minami 4*jo Nishi 2*chome Chuo*ku, Sapporo City Center. Its a nice hotel and I am very happy with it.

There's no need to give tips in japan ..unless u want to go hostress bar .

Thanks bro, I was waiting for the sinseh to confirm.

Try drinking Tokyo tap water and u will be surprise , all houses in tokyo are fixed with our own fliter stystem .

Have you tried Sapporo water, I was very surprised, taste very natural and like full of oxygen because I felt very refreshed after drinking it. Also has mineral taste and its wonderful. Cannot feel any tinge of chemical.

I was very surprised qt the prices here in Sapporo like this afternoon we had 2 bowls of "out of the world" ramen, 2 Sapporo beer, kyoza it was only 3310 yen or $55 and I think its cheaper than in Osaka or Tokyo. Ok tonight's dinner I cannot compare because we had really nice food and extremely good sake total cost 29,800 yen for 3 people and drinks for 5 (bought drinks for chef and manager), also we had lots and lots of fun in the restaurant. Worth every cent because its something we can never experience outside Japan. I will post some pictures here tomorrow because I'm a little wasted but wife completely wasted.

I think I'm fucked. Just realised that my new MB Air does not have any slot to take SD card from my camera and I did not bring any cable. Fuck! Guess I got to buy a cable tomorrow. Anyway here's one of the best beers I've drank in my life taken from iPhone. Smooth and creamy.

Wishing you a safe and fruitful vacation.:)

Thanks bro. Today we go to Otaru city which is about 30mins from Sapporo. I understand that this is an old city with many attractions.

My goodnesss, you must be a really rich man eating in a 5-star restaurant to think that's inexpensive.

The US needs tips even though it's 1st world.

That's what I really hate about the US. Almost every service is tippable. A minimum of 15% is expected and sometimes as high as 100%. For example, you sat down in a coffeehouse to have a simple cup of coffee for US$1. You don't possibly want to embarrass yourself and insult them by tipping US15c. You have to tip US$1. Back in those student days, I'd try to avoid all these tipping as much as possible with takeaway food (known in US as food to go) or eat at self service joints.

Yes Jah, I'm here on holiday with wife. In Hokkaido to catch the autumn leaves and of course the famous seafood. I understand that the seafood is being supplied to most of Japan.

To joetys are you in japan for holiday?

No Forvendet, no need to be rich because I saved for this trip and in a trip I will normally not consider about costs for food because it is an experience you cannot get it back home or for me back in Bangkok. I may stinge on hotel because just need a bed and bathroom so no need to spend too much on hotel.

Ok guys leaving for Otaru now. Catch you guys later.
